5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Edition of the NKJV, April 26, 2002

While Cambridge makes the best Bibles Thomas Nelson has done
a wonderful job with this edition of the NKJV. In fact I wish
they had a KJV just like it for my collection! The leather is
very nice and the text is quite good, with good cross references.
I also like it that the text is black letter, not red letter.
This is a very good edition of the NKJV, in fact it might be the
best NKJV Bible in print. The NKJV is a good literal translation
and it still retains the beautiful literary sound of the KJV.
There are some who believe that this is the version for
memorizing Scripture. Again, this is an excellent edition of the NKJV.
Good job Thomas Nelson!!!

I have purchased three of these Bibles. The first one is almost worn out. I purchased two additional Bibles so that I could always have this Bible available to me. I love it that much. The font is comfortable. The references are very helpful. The margins are wide. The binding is good. The leather is nice. I don't ever want to be without it.

I have purchased several of these. The original I have worn out. I have a second that I am starting to use and have already added thousands of notes to the margins. I have purchased several for my wife and friends. I love the space for adding notes and references. I turned my Bible into a study Bible with my own study instead of taking someone elses word for it. YOu will love it too.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Basic Tool for Bible Study!, July 6, 2002
By

My Nelson wide margin reference edition provides me with three nice sized margins for notes. The print contrasts well with the white pages for easy reading. The paper is thick and easy to turn. However, most pens will bleed through. I finally found some special Bible pens from Zebra that will almost end this problem. In addition to the center reference, the Bible has a standard concordance, harmony, and map section. In subjecting the Bible to average use, I found the cover leather too thin and showing wear. The corners of the inside cover lining in the front and back are separating and must be glued down. The binding is loose and allows the Bible to open nice and flat for study. Considering the price, this Bible is a real value. A better cover and more attention to the binding would make this Bible great even if it cost a lttle more.

5.0 out of 5 stars NKJV a good translation, September 24, 2001

The NKJV is a good translation of the Bible. It makes certain verses easier to understand than the KJV. A wide margin Bible is handy to make notes in.
The Bible is God's Word, and it is the only source available today of God's word. I feel that the Bible is a book that everyone should read to learn about our Creator and His plan for the earth.

4.0 out of 5 stars Shop around first..., April 28, 2003

This printing of the NKJV is good for one, and only 9one, reason--the margins. But there are a good number of other bad points that one might consider before buying.

Thick pages make this a very thick Bible, thicker than most study Bibles. This wouldn't be a problem if it prevented markers and highlighters from bleeding, but it doesn't. They bleed just as easily as thin-paged Bibles. So the thick pages offer nothing.

The font is printed fairly blurry and inconsistantly fromn page to page. And also, the words of Christ are not in red.

For the same price, there are many other Bibles out there made better. But if you've shopped around and are sure this is the one for you, then by all means, have at it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for Note taking, & personal study, June 21, 2011
By
This review is from: Holy Bible Wide Margin Center-Column Reference Edition (Leather Bound)
This is a very nice Bible. In layout it is very similar to the Cambridge Pitt Minion wide margin Bible, but in Times single spaced, and it is much cheaper.

The paper is significantly thicker than other Bibles and as such will be good for careful note-taking with acid-free ink.

It has approximately 1 1/4 inch margins, though as other reviewers have pointed out the top margin is little more than half inch. References are plentiful and there is an adequate concordance at the back.

where it loses a star;

1. The Times font and single spaced kerning, not for my eyes as one reviewer suggested, rather, for a Bible design for annotation the lines of text are too close together to underline passages easily. Luckily, I just found some rare Bible highlight pencils! Also Times is an old fashioned font.

2. The concordance is only 66 pages, where as my Nelson NKJV Study Bible has a concordance of 195 pages, and again as a Bible designed for study I would have expected the same in this edition.

3. I would have liked all books to start on a new page, though where they overlap, there is a space, but still ...

4. The Bonded leather feels a bit plastic and although I always look after my Bibles, I suspect this may fall apart (like all my other Nelson Bibles - hope I'm wrong.)

Overall, a very good buy, I do think this is a Study Bible - a Personal Study Bible, one where you add your your own Spirit-led inspiration and notes rather than rely on someone else's - often a result of learning and group consensus, as opposed to inspiration. Sadly, it lacks the blank note pages of the Cambridge wide-margin Bibles as well as my other study Bibles, and the words of Christ are in Black, which some prefer, but may be a disappointment to others.

That said, I'm looking forward to sitting down and putting my notes in this Bible.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is awesome!, June 23, 2007
This review is from: Holy Bible Wide Margin Center-Column Reference Edition (Leather Bound)
I had one of these bibles when I went through bible school, and it has been used so much that it has been coming apart. I have wanted a new one for a long time, but heard they were out of print. I was heart broken when I couldn't get a hold of a new one. I am SOOO excited to see that they are back! It's got to be the best bible out there. It is very handy being able to write your notes in the wide margins, and then be able to go back and learn from what you have written down. Thanks for bringing it back into print Thomas Nelson publishers!!
