A Must-Have Study Bible,
By Marvin L. Walther (Hope, AR USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Holy Bible in Modern English/Burgundy (Hardcover)
This Bible is truly a clear and accurate translation from the original Hebrew, Greek, and Chaldean texts. The books of the Bible have been re-arranged in chronological order so as to present a better understanding of the chain of human and Divine events. If you owned no other Bible than this one, and had no Concordance, or other cross-reference materials, you would gain a better understanding of God's word with this Bible alone. It is great for study because it uses classic dialectic English from which our current-day English is derived. The 'thees' and 'thous' are finally gone rendering a beautifully fluid binding of the scriptures into one exciting story after another. It reads more like a factual novel than a broken English translation from a foreign langauge arts course. I might point out to those who've never thought of it before, that when the KJV was written Old English had only about a 25,000 - word vocabulary. When Fenton finished his work in the 19th century, English had evolved to a language form that could dynamically describe (with accuracy) the events in the original Holy texts with over 10 times as many words at his disposal!

Yahweh's word restored,
By Jay Williams (Wantagh New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Holy Bible in Modern English/Burgundy (Hardcover)
I wish to recomend this translation of the Holy Bible to anyone who seriously wishes to understand the meaning of scripture. If you were to compare the words used to correctly decipher the writing in Hebrew, to the words which Ferrar Fenton chose to use for his translation, you will find that his work is the most exact way to understand the Hebrew and Chaldean meaning, published even to this day. The Greek is also of the highest level due to the fact that Mr. Fenton chose to format the passages as to what they meant, instead of rewording them as they appeared in obselete languages, as previous translators did, leaving us searching the concordances and lexicons to find out what the passages meant. If you choose this Bible, you will be fascinated by the ease of reading, and the ease of understanding the meaning of each individual event, or prophecy. Please purchace this Bible, and may Yahweh God bless you as you come to the next level of understanding. Spiritual Leader Jay Williams Church of Jesus Christ Christian of New York

The Holy Bible in Modern English/Burgundy,
By Joan A. Adamak (Oregon, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Holy Bible in Modern English/Burgundy (Hardcover)
Because Fenton carefully explained why his translation differed in certain instances from other Biblical translations, and also set out for the reader the historical environment in certain divisions of his rendition, it makes the Bible become more real and plausible. Thus it reads more easily and is more readily assimilated.

Ferrar Fenton's Holy Bible in Modern English - A Truely Fant,
By Dennis Ricketts (Virginia, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Holy Bible in Modern English/Burgundy (Hardcover)
There seems to be hundreds of translations of the Holy Scriptures around. But, it is only once in a great while, that one comes along, that is truely breath taking. Mr. Fenton learned the languages that were used to make this translation. He also placed the scriptures back into verse, in the places where it was appropriate. Thus, as an example, the Psalms now read as the songs that they were originally written. A pass thru the 23rd Psalm, a part of our Bible, that everyone is familar with, will now take on new life, as you are able to see this in its intended form. While this translation is not annotated as well, as other translations, it is easy to read and understand, and it a most worthwhile addition to any household. I greatly recommend that you purchase a copy of this work, and add it to your home. And, when it arrives at your house, turn to the 23rd Psalm and enjoy!

Precious Parts Restored,
By M. L. Breazeale (Conroe, Texas United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Holy Bible in Modern English/Burgundy (Hardcover)
Bible prophecy says that the scriptures will be restored in the Last Days. This Bible is the restoration of the scriptures. Ferrar Fenton has painstakingly translated each word from the original Hebrew, Greek, Chaldean and Arabaic languages directly into modern English. The KJV, by comparison, was translated from the original languages first into Latin, then French, then into King's English in 1605. Ferrar Fenton's correct translation is a "must have" for every serious Christian.

This is a must have translation of the Bible,
By Mark Wilkins (Tampa, Florida United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Holy Bible in Modern English/Burgundy (Hardcover)
This particular translation was painstakingly created beteen 1853, and 1903. This is an actual translation by the dedicated, and it gives you exactly what is in the Bible. There are also some very good footnotes, and forwards, for the places that are hard to translate. Once you try this Bible you will not want any other. Read the Book of Jonah and you will see that his being swallowed by a whale is a mistranslation, you will have to read it to see what really happened.

An Awesome tool for any serious bible student,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Holy Bible in Modern English/Burgundy (Hardcover)
This bible truly brings out things from the hebrew and greek that are not in literal translations. A must have for any serious bible student. A side note the Old Testament is organized like the Tanach and the New Testament is in a very unusual order.

Disappointed,
By
This review is from: The Holy Bible in Modern English/Burgundy (Hardcover)
I'm sorry, but I was truly disappointed in Mr Fenton's
translation of the Bible. He brought up some good points, but what got me right away was his pulling out the word for "image" in Genesis and making it "shadow" which really makes no sense. I still think the best translation is the KJV with a Strongs Concordance. And there is one called "The Companion Bible" that is the KJV with a wide margin explaining the verse using the meaning of the words of the old Hebrew,Aramaic and Greek languages, which you can find in the Strongs Concordance. There is also something called the "Interlinear Bible" by J.P.Green, Sr. It is a set that gives you the English translation and the Hebrew and Greek with numbers over the words that are coded with the Strongs Concordance which makes it so much easier to use and understand. If you could add these books to your stock I would be happy to highly recommend them. Thank you for your time, Barbara

I ordered this translation of the Bible and within the first Chapter of Genesis I was amazed. It reads
By periods God created that which produced the Solar Systems then that wich produced the Earth. But the Earth was unorganised and empty and darkness covered its convulsed surface while the breath of God rocked the surface of its waters. God then said let there be light and light came and God gazed upon the beautiful light and God divided the light from the darkness and to the light God gave the hane of Day and to the darkness He gave the name of Night. This was the close and the dawn of the first age. He translates the Hebrew word boker as "close" when everywere I know of its translated morning. He translates the hebrew word ereb as dawn when it is everywere i know of translted evening and the hebrew word yowm as age when the normal usage of the word would be translated as day. It would take the rest of my life to go through every out there translation of this translation. I could not recomend it. In first John 4 he translates Friends do not beleive every thinker but test the teachings The word thinker and the word teachings is the greek word peuma it should always be translted either spirit or wind There is so much I get tired thinking about it. I am a Bible translator and as a translator I would recomend almost any Bible translation over this one. I guess I could say I like the way he did his book order. I like that he followed the Hebrew scriptures book order and I like that John was the first book of the New Testament. |
