5.0 out of 5 stars Holy Hip Hop hits the spot!
"Holy Hip Hop: Taking the Gospel to the Streets" is a definite must for any Christian rap fan, either a veteran fan of the genre or a beginning rookie listener. This compilation has some flavor from other types of music (R&B, reggae and definitely rap). Produced by Christopher "Play" Martin (for those of you that don't know-a former member of Kid 'n Play from back in...

3.0 out of 5 stars A couple great cuts make it work
I own a lot of Christian Rap music. These CD is volume 1 of 5 for the Holy Hip Hop series. It has few great cuts IMO. These three make it worth purchasing, not to mention that the support will continue to allow more artists to be heard.

Focus - Izreal
Holy Ghost Party - Infinity
Fireproof - FTF

My over all rating is 8 out of 10.

"Holy Hip Hop: Taking the Gospel to the Streets" is a definite must for any Christian rap fan, either a veteran fan of the genre or a beginning rookie listener. This compilation has some flavor from other types of music (R&B, reggae and definitely rap). Produced by Christopher "Play" Martin (for those of you that don't know-a former member of Kid 'n Play from back in the 1980's) and veteran supervising producer, David "Damonsta" Lynch, the hits are blazing off the meter! Featuring music from up and newcomers ShonLock ("Boogie Bounce"), Shei Atkins ("Praise Him"), Ziklag (the bass-filled "Raw & Uncut"), R. Jones ("I Pray"), FTF ("Fireproof"), R-Swift ("Night Sweats") and Infinity featuring Linkz (the reggae-pumped "Holy Ghost Party"), plus with music from established Christian artists like Dynamic Twins ("This Is Me"), Canton Jones (the soothing ole-to-the-Lord jam, "You and Me"), Izreal ("I Pray") and Mr. Del (the down South bumper, "Shake 'Em off"), this CD is a definite one for the clubs, Christian or otherwise. Mariaha Markel's spoken word, "Dedication to Holy Hip Hop", narrations by Andre Williams and the hidden bonus track, Eastwood's West Coast fueled, "L.A.", helps to round out the disc on a positive note. If you're a beginning fan or a veteran listener of Christian rap and hip-hop, then Holy Hip Hop: Taking the Gospel to the Streets is for you! Go out and buy that! You won't be disappointed! Praise the Lord!

4.0 out of 5 stars GREAT MIX OF MUSIC!, March 3, 2009
This review is from: Holy Hip Hop: Taking Gospel to the Streets (Audio CD)
This is the original of the series and it is one of the best because it has a mix of music. It isn't all just rap, it has a few R&B type songs, like Canton Jones! That makes it great! Number one is a silly song. I don't like it much. Don't listen to that song and think the whole CD is silly. Number 2 is off the chain! That's my favorite song right that! Number 3 is very modern. A few of my friends thought it sounded dirty at first lol. And number 9 (if that is the holy ghost party song) is a good song too. My favorite volumes are still 3 and 5 though so I give this one a 4 because it isn't my favorite of the volumes, but definately a good one!

This CD not only was to help on those long trips with Youth in my vehicle, but I really enjoy it too. This cd is filled with the Holy Spirit. The Youth in my church are looking to purchase this very cd for themselves.

Yeah, it's a good CD but it's not really my taste. I guess it's street-gospel-hip-hop... so it's not really my style but if you're into any one of the groups ull like the variety (the music seems to be the same all around.)

This album deffinately sets the bar high for Christian Hip Hop. I only gave it four stars because there are like 3 or 4 r&b song on the album that sucked. But that's just because I hate r&b. Track two is so tight, I can't say enough about it. This cd is produced and put together by Play from Kid 'n Play and it is a great testimony to how hip hop can be used to spread the word of God, but if you don't believe in that then get it anyway because the beats and rhymns are unrivaled

3.0 out of 5 stars It's ahh-right, July 26, 2004
This review is from: Holy Hip Hop: Taking Gospel to the Streets (Audio CD)
This CD has a few good songs on it, I really enjoyed #7 by R. Jones, the message and the music just really touched my spirit. I'd like to hear more from this artist. Good job Play, had no idea you were still out there, let alone bringing it to us in the name of the lord. Keep up the ministry.
