O Holy Night!,
By John Rivard-Briggs (Phoenix, Arizona) - See all my reviews
This review is from: O Holy Night (Audio CD)
I have been a faithful fan of Sandi Patty for about 15 years now and just when I think that she can't outdo herself, she releases the CD, 'O Holy Night!' Her voice is as flawless as ever and her ability to hit those high notes that made her so famous has not diminished in any way. Only an angel from heaven could sing better than she can. The title track from the CD absolutely gives me goosebumps every time that I listen to it. Also her ability to sing so naturally and pleasantly makes her all the more appealing. I highly recommend this CD and all her others to anyone who enjoys listening to women with beautiful voices!

This recording is an excellent demonstration of what Christmas should be, a time of joy and love. This album contains excellent musical arrangements and excellent vocal performance. If you have listened to Mariah Carey's X-mas album then you should listen to O Holy Night. Contains classics surely to remember your childhood winter days!

A holiday Christmas tradition!,
By A Customer
This review is from: O Holy Night (Audio CD)
Sandi Patty has a tendancy to overdue some of her music. Big production numbers, with full orchestra and choir sometimes over shadow Sandi's incredible voice. That happens a couple of times on this album, especially in the song "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day." That said, this is still a wonderful Christmas album. Sandi's warmth comes through on "Winter Wonderland/White Christmas" medley and a new classic "Child of Peace." The album is filled with both secular and spiritual standards including "O Holy Night" and "Silver Bells" and another new song, "Star of Bethlehem." The best song on the album is "My Favorite Things", the classic song from The Sound of Music. In the interesting treatment of the song blends the traditional waltz music of the original with music from "The Nutcracker." All I can say is that this song is fun to listen to. For those doubting Sandi's vocal skill, listen to "Carol of the Bells." This incredibly difficult song comes out flawlessly as Sandi skips octaves while pronouncing each word clearly and precisely. What a treat!

The ultimate artist!,

Sandi Patty has outdone herself once again. When you listen to this CD, listen for the versatility of style in Sandi's voice. THe arrangement of "Carol of the Bells" wil knock your socks off! "O Holy Night" and "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day" round out Sandi's "big" numbers. The High Db from days gone by rings true as Sandi shows that she has not lost that upper register. The rest of the album, containing several secular numbers, as well as a few new numbers, once again shows that Sandi Patty is the ultimate artist!

My favorite holiday CD,
This review is from: O Holy Night (Audio CD)
I got this album at a Hallmark store in the 80s when they were selling cassettes of Christmas music at the checkout at Christmas time. I didn't know Sandi Patty at the time, but liked the selection of songs, so I bought it. It quickly became a favorite -- my children grew up with this music. When cassettes gave way to CDs, I bought the CD. Now I have it downloaded on my iPod. After almost 30 years, I still am brought to tears when I hear Sandi Patty sing O Holy Night. I have shared this with many friends, my entire family, two husbands, and four children. This is a classic by one of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard. Enjoy it!

The Best,
This review is from: O Holy Night (Audio Cassette)
The best. This and Sand's first Christmas album--The Gift Goes On--are two of the greatest Christmas albums of all time. As there are many Sandi Christmas compilations now on the market, I suggest either this or Gift. Yuletide Joy and Voice of Christmas are fine compared to other artists but not compared to her previous recordings.

O Holy Night-Sandi Patty,

After hearing many renditions of this most popular and wonderful song, this rendition is truly THE BEST YET!
David T.Clydesdale's choice of harmonies is exquisite and Sandi Patty balances Clydesdale like no other singer. It's an ethereal and most powerful projection and I can't praise it enough. As yet,I have NOT encountered an arrangement like Clydesdale's and Sandi's delivery that can come anywhere as close. I implore you to seek out this recording, you will not be disappointed and you will truly be uplifted in spirit with the sincerity and real musical expertise that's so evident here. Also try seeking out Sandi's rendition of The Star Spangled Banner,it's awesome and so poignant. As a professional musician/pianist from the UK,it's so wonderful to hear such musicality exploited to the full and I warmly recommend this rendition above ANYTHING so far.

Priceless,
This review is from: O Holy Night (Audio CD)
Anyone who loves Christmas music (as well as spectacular singing) should own this recording. It is thrilling and beautiful from beginning to end with several transcendent moments such as "Star Of Bethlehem" and "Oh Holy Night". The sincerity of sentiment and emotion that ring through the magnificent voice and superb production and arrangement makes for an unbeatable musical and spiritual achievement. This is in a class with Jessye Norman's supreme "Christmastide" and that's saying a lot.

Christmas 1995,
By
This review is from: O Holy Night (Audio CD)
This is a partial repackaging of Sandi's Hallmark Christmas album from 1992 (It contains none of her material for the 1996 Hallmark album). It contains new material and the highlight is the closing "Star of Bethlehem" which is a rare song of beauty and majesty. The performance of "My Favorite Things" seems a little odd, but on Sandi's 1996 Christmas TV special, her daughter Anna danced to the recording, and it all worked beautifully. The performances by the London Symphony Orchestra give Sandi the perfect backup for the mystery and joy of the holiday season. A vivid second Christmas album after 1983's "The Gift Goes On." We can pray for a third Christmas album. Yuletide Joy
