In O Holy Night, her debut as a Sony recording artist, 10 year old soprano Jackie Evancho provides a thrilling, if altogether too brief, glimpse of her genuinely startling vocal ability.

O Holy Night is an EP/DVD consisting of 4 Christmas songs as well as a separate disk containing videos of her journey through America's Got Talent last summer, along with a brief interview with Jackie. The music selections include outstanding versions of Pie Jesu, Silent Night and Panis Angelicus. But the standout track - the one I keep playing over and over in fact - is the title track O Holy Night. The arrangement builds though the song almost to the point of being pretentious, which might be problem were it not for the fact that her vocals are more than up to the challenge. Her voice shimmers - and in fact it soars with surprising power. More importantly, she brings an interpretive gift to the song far beyond her years. When Jackie sings a song like O Holy Night, it is as though she is really singing the story of the birth of Christ to us - and it is her talent as a storyteller which really comes through. Listen as she proclaims the word "proclaim"!

I have seen vocal gifts like this before, but never in a child - and in fact altogether too rarely in Jackie's chosen field of classical crossover. If there is one concession to her age in her vocals, it is that she does have to take more breaths than an adult singer might. Her remarkable interpretive ability more than compensates. Putting all of this together, Jackie Evancho is already among the best singers in her field

Apart from Jackie's vocals, I was tempted to downgrade the actual product because it was too short.

Normally I dont listen to opera singers or young singers this age. But Jackie Evancho is an exception. She has a voice that can only be a gift from god. From the moment I saw her Youtube audition online for America's Got Talent for the upcoming Youtube round..I instantly became a fan. Voting for her as many times I can and in the following weeks, I thought the competition was her to lose. She ended up getting 2nd place losing to Michael Grim in the finale. But her impact was just the begining.

One day I was channel surfing and saw her singing on Oprah. So I watched it, when I heard she was releasing her first cd since AGT, I knew I had to get it. So got on my computer and preordered. As Im typing, Im listening to the cd and its beautiful. Every track reminded me of why I wanted her to win. The cd only have 4 songs:

-Silent Night
-Panis Angelicus (was the song she did in her youtube audition)
-O Holy Night
-Pie Jesu (a song she did on the show)

But the cd comes with all her AGT performances including the youtube audition along with an interview of her at her home.

If you havent heard this girl sing...you must hear her. She holds the record of the youngest opera singer...in history. She truely has the voice of an angel

This child has a voice that defies description. It is so beautiful. I cannot get enough of her passionate interpretations of these classic pieces. I am already starved for more material from this breakthrough artist.

Sometimes life gives us a glimpse of something so incredibly beautiful, that it is beyond the power of words to describe, something so wonderful and so exquisite, that all we can do is let our emotions and our hearts express what words cannot. The result is goosebumps and rivers of joyful tears. This is the voice and beauty of Jackie Evancho. In this wonderful Christmas CD Jackie gives us a little glimpse of Heaven as she sings "O Holy Night" in a voice so pure and clear it is like fine crystal. Her rendition is the best I have ever heard, and I predict that it will be broadcast and played in homes all across America this Holiday season. Just four tracks and a DVD of her previous appearances, but it is not to be missed. I highly recommend it.

I ordered ten Jackie Evancho CD/DVD's from AMAZON and received them within 48 hours of release ! I am keeping one for viewing/listening,one unopened and the rest will be gifts for my children and grand-children, then I will order more for my friends. Much has been written about Jackie's incredible talent and wonderful personality, and I agree with all reviewers. I speak Italian and took Latin in school and am amazed at Jackies renditions in those languages; she also seems to know exactly what she is singing about and projecting the sentiment to the audience in a way I have seldom experienced. I have heard some of the arias she sings sung by Maria Callas, Kiri te Kanava, Sarah Brightman, Renata Tebaldi and several other sopranos and have come to the conclusion that Jackie Evancho does is better than all of them, perhaps not technicaly, but with more soul and such a pure angelical voice.
