This composer is probably best known for his evocative and distincitive theme from the cult hit television series "Twin Peaks", which is into reruns these days. Some other known soundtracks to mention - "Wild At Heart", "Blue Velvet" and his most recent "Straight Story", a memorable mixture of country and Mid-Western culture.

The entire CD is worth the price of admission, to a wonderful journey through music and unforgettable themes with stand outs - "WAITING, REACHING, SEEKING" and "MONTAGE FINALE" simply heart wrenching. A few highlights - "THE CELEBRATION" and "MAYA, MAYI, MA" is so haunting, this theme is still in your head after the CD is over. With a classic track by Annie Lennox - "PRIMITIVE" is mesmerizing with this hypnotic power that flows flawlessly over you.

Milan Records has come up with a sure-fire winner, that will keep film and music lovers wanting more.

Holy Smoke! The Soundtrack is just amazing. The songs and the music are so hauntingly beautiful and has very emotional feeling. This musical should be at least be nominated for an Academy Award for best musical score. I can't wait to see Holy Smoke! the film, with Kate Winslet (amazing actress) and Harvey Keitel (great actor as well), I heard (according the reviews) that Kate Winslet gives her best performance of her career.

I just saw the movie with Kate Winslet and Harvey Keitel and it was fantastic.The plot was excellent and Kate perfomance is fantasic she sure diserves an Oscar.Harvey perfomance is good too.The soundtrack of this movie is fantastic especially the song by Alanis Morrisette that Kate sings in the movie. I reccomend this CD to everybody.

Despite having synthesizers and tense strings in tow, Badalamenti gives a unique finish to what would otherwise be an example of modern day's conventional scoring technique. Flute solos and subtle splashes of cymbal crashes and timpani rolls, along with allusions to melodies that never quite make it, bring interest to the melodrama. It is not much, a little slight. What most catches my ear is the infectious 'Maya, Mayi, Ma' song, an unashamed take on 'world music'.

This Soundtrack has got a really nice version of the song, "I put a spell on you" by the Angels, and for that I gave it 5 stars. But the rest of the album is a little boring. But it's still worth getting for that one song.
