4.0 out of 5 stars one of the few Christian metal bands that could compete with secular bands, February 1, 2011
This review is from: Holy Soldier (Audio CD)
The first two Holy Soldier albums were exceptional. Steven Patrick's soaring vocals and the band's tight playing put them in the same league as Dokken, Ratt, Y&T, etc. Highlights on this album are "When the Reign Comes Down," "Eyes of Innocence," "Lies," and "The Pain Inside of Me." This is definitely worth downloading. Their follow up album--"Last Train"--was even better but buy this one, too. Bassist Andy Robbins is a class act!

5.0 out of 5 stars Holy Soldier Rocks!!!!!!, July 4, 2006
This review is from: Holy Soldier (Audio CD)
This band formed in the mid-80's in Los Angeles and released this CD in 1990. Being a huge fan of Stryper I had to try this CD when I saw it in the record store. And like most who have listened to Holy Soldier are blown away by this band! The lyrical content is what really grabs me, they write about the issues plaguing our World. The vocals of Steven Patrick are strong and clear making it easy to follow the message they are conveying. The whole band is tight, guitars, drums, vocals. Highly recommend!

4.0 out of 5 stars Holy Soldier - self-titled (A&M), October 15, 2007
This review is from: Holy Soldier (Audio CD)
I remember this band playing to a small crowd in some dive near me back when this CD first came out. Another Christian hair metal band. Some might say they're a Stryper wanna-be. Let's give these guys a chance, this ten track self-titled effort isn't band. Tunes I liked best were "Stranger", "The Pain Inside Me", the familiar-sounding "Tear Down The Walls" and "When The Reign Comes Down". Check it out.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best band that never made it huge, January 27, 2006
This review is from: Holy Soldier (Audio CD)
Holy Soldier burst onto the music scene in the 80's hair metal days. Their music and lyrics are great. Highlights include:

Stranger

The Pain Inside of Me

When The Reign Comes Down

Eyes of Innocence

We Are Young, We Are Strong

If you enjoyed the 80's hair metal scene and/or good 80's rock you'll enjoy Holy Soldier.

5.0 out of 5 stars Holy Soldier still rocks!, November 15, 2007

This review is from: Holy Soldier (MP3 Download)
Back in 1992 when I first heard this band I was blown away and now (2008) after just downloading this christian metal classic, I can't stop listening to it. Holy Soldier used some of the same heavy metal principals that made Styper popular without the syrupy ballads. Yet they took things to greater level with awsome inspired lyrics, explosive guitar work with the aid of passionate vocals of Steve Patrick. Tired of the "I can't tell if they are Christian" Bands or maybe they lyrically all start to sound same, even the "cookie" cutter songs. Then I strongly recommend this band and their music. They have two awsome heart wrinching ballads such as "Pain Inside of Me " and the unforgetable "Eyes of Innocence". Songs such as "Cry Out For Love", "Stranger", and "We are Strong, We Are Young" and others will get you exited and rock'n. The songs that reminde us of the times we live in and issues that are at hand are "See No Evil" and "When The Reign Comes Down". There is not a bad song on this cd. So Rock On Holy Soldiers!
