5.0 out of 5 stars A great work that should not be labeled anything but Rock!, August 2, 2000

I must admit I bought the album because of its cover. Great art design that is congruent with the work inside.I did not expect to find the high quality rock this CD contains. From the very first accords you know this is not the usual "latin pop" or "Rock en español" album. This work reminds of, but never imitates, Pink Floyd on its better years. It has some unusual and refreshing songs, like "Cuantos Pasos", and some real tight rock acts, like "No encuentro la manera" and "Si me adverti", the latter being, for me, the best song of this CD. Lyrics are simple but intelligent, and coherent with the mood and sound of the album. Non-spanish speaking listeners need not to worry. You will enjoy the songs just the same.

Sound quality is very good, so maybe you will be surprised by knowing most of the album was recorded and produced in Monterrey, Mexico, home-town of this band.

Pure Rock groups seem to be out of favor these days. Nevertheless, part of this may be due to the lack of new bands and quality productions from old ones. Maybe we should start looking south of the border (and across the pond) for new sounds and groups to refresh the pure rock scene.

Attention music stores: Please DO NOT place this album under the "Latin music", "Mexican music" or even "Rock en Espanol" sections. This album should only be labeled Rock. Don't worry. Unsuspected shoppers will not feel misleaded.

5.0 out of 5 stars Uno de las mejores producciones de rock en Latinoamerica., November 7, 2000
This review is from: Hombre Sintetizador (Audio CD)

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible, December 16, 2003

I can't believe that no one has written a review for this album before!!! This album has be out for almost five year, and in my humble opinion, it's one of the masterpieces of "Rock en Español". Its music is vey varied, ranging from trippy, to pop, to electronic, to grunge to just "plain great rock". Give it a chance. Try to download "Luna" and "Abre los Ojos" to get a preview of the treat you are in for.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is simply GREAT music, April 20, 2002
This review is from: Hombre Sintetizador (Audio CD)
I just got this CD two days ago and I cannot stop listening to it. The album is solid from start to finish, with the exception of maybe one song. It really strikes a chord with me and I don't speak a lick of spanish. Just thought I'd let all you guys out there know that this music is not just for spanish speakers, but that it is universel and should be enjoyed by all.

5.0 out of 5 stars In my opinion, the best mexican rock album ever, April 11, 2002
This review is from: Hombre Sintetizador (Audio CD)
If popularity was a measure of the quality of an album, "Hombre Sintetizador" should have sold millions of copies; instead, it's barely known to anybody, even here, in Monterrey (Zurdok's hometown).

As has been said here several times, from the very first chords of the title track you realize this is not your typical "rock en español" band. There are so many memorable songs, varying from the beautiful baroque arrangment of "Hombre Sintetizador I", to the catchy "Cuantos Pasos", to the hard rock of "Abre los Ojos" and "Si Me Advertí", all the way to the great closer "Luna" (followed by an acoustic encore of "Cuantos Pasos").

I discovered this album late, about a year ago, but now I keep it right next to Radiohead's "OK Computer" and Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon". This is not "latin music" anymore, it's just great music.

It's sad that zurdok is no longer together, but the good news is that two of the band members (Chetes and Maurizio) have a new band called "Vaquero". Most of their songs are now in English, so people who didn't knew them because their songs where only in Spanish can now be part of this movement... You can go to www.vaquero.es.mn end find three of their demos (which are great by the way)... ho yeah, and buy this album too if you don't have it already... you won't ever regret it... it'll change the way you think about Spanish rock...

5.0 out of 5 stars Re-inventing The Music, May 31, 2002
By

Zurdok, as you can read in other reviews, is not another typical mexican rock band. You won't listen to this record while thinking of bands like Jaguares, Mana or the typical 'latino' sound. This album is progressive, agressive, excellent, with influences by Radiohead, The Beatles and bands that rocked and still rock the world. Simply one of my best albums and one of the best rock albums ever... don't doubt it: Just Buy It!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Perfect Band, August 16, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Hombre Sintetizador (Audio CD)
ZURDOK is the perfect band!

The CD is excelent from song #1 "Hombre Sintetizador I" to the very end song. The lyrics are very cool and they make think twice when you hear them. You can find your own definition of one of the songs.

This is not like any other band from Mexico, the typical bands Caifanes or Mana. With some influences from The Beatles and Radio Head this guys are cool.

THe perfect CD that you won't ever get tired of listening all the time.

Music Stores Plese don't label them as Rock N español you should put them just as ROCK and i'm sure non spanish speaking buyers will buy this CD.
