Inspiring story of love and hope,
By Judith E. Pavluvcik (Dreaming of the beach in Hawaii, but living in the reality of the desert in Arizona!!) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Home Again: A Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
Home Again is another mesmerizing love story by Kristin Hannah. This story is a true tearjerker - a 2 Kleenex box story! Hannah weaves her story with amazing true to life characters, catching the reader up in the drama, pulling them into the core of their lives. As with all of her other books, you want a sequel to the book. The dramas portrayed are so true to life, that you have to remind yourself, "this is just a story . . .!!!!"This is a book of hope and faith and love. This book will have you weeping at the loss, the hurt and the self-destruction of lives and yet you will be cheering at the turn around. We learn about the power of forgiveness and the power of love and wishing we all had a friend like Francis in our lives. This love story is also a story of inspiration. Hannah once again does a tremendous job of painting characters so realistically while skillfully imparting to her readers another uplifting message of love and hope. This is my third book by Kristin Hannah and I have cried through every one of them and I cannot read them fast enough!! She is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. I am not a big romance reader, but I find that her books tug at your heart while depicting life as it is and not some fantasy. I could easily give this book more than 5 stars - I guarantee you won't be disappointed in this book or in any of her other books.

Heart-Breaking and Heart-Warming All In One!,
This review is from: Home Again: A Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
If you're new to Kristin Hannah's books, I can highly recommend them all - this one especially. Ms. Hannah's characters are wonderful - not the usual "perfect" romance characters, but have their flaws, problems and troubles - just like real people! Usually in books, I root for one or two particular characters, but in this book I felt empathy for everyone and wanted them all to come out winners! I usually read a novel for entertainment and generally don't become too involved or emotional, but this book brought me to tears several times over and over ... and always does if I re-read it, even though I know what's going to happen. It's heart-breaking, heart-warming, and wonderful - indeed a terrific gift to us readers to have a book this wonderful in our hands! I've read everything Ms. Hannah has written and can highly recommend her books. Whenever I see one of her new books in the store - it's a MUST BUY - not a maybe...! :)

Home Again,
By "samcmillen" (Louisville, KY United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Home Again: A Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
I think this is one of my all time favorite books. The author writes with such feeling and depth that I felt as though I were there and living the characters. The characters were very human and had flaws, but in the end, it gave hope that people really can grow and change. It is a tear jerker, but had a wonderful, wonderful story. I had a hard time putting it down once I started reading. I highly recommend it.

Excellent...,

This review is from: Home Again: A Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
This is the third book by Kristen Hannah that I have read and it was wonderful. It was a tearjerker but it was also very romatic. The last chapter of the book was probably the most romatic ending I have ever read and I have read a ton of romance novels. These characters aren't perfect and I think that is why I could relate to them. I would highly recommend this novel as well as Angel Falls and On Mystic Lake by Ms. Hannah. I am going to try to find some of her older novels and I am sure that I won't be disappointed if the three I have read are any indication.

Life changes for everyone....even the famous.,

This review is from: Home Again: A Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
Madeline Hilyard is a great cardiologist who is a single parent to her daughter Lina, whom is very very unhappy. Her mother never has time for her as she works at the hospital hours on end. It has always been this way Lina's whole life, and she often feels neglected-and not only that, her mother would never tell her who her father was. And as it is coming up to Lina's 16th birthday, she is going to pry the answers out of her mother no matter what it takes. One thing that is Lina's rock, and a fatherly figure to her is Francis DeMarco, of whom is a priest. He has always been a friend to Madeline over the years since Lina was a brand new baby, and they both adore him.
Francis has a brother, Angel DeMarco who is just the opposite. Angel is a big star, and at one time he and Madeline were lovers. When Angel finally collapses with another bad heart attack, he lands in the hospital where Madeline practices. She ends up on the case as his doctor, and finds out that Angel needs a heart transplant, and soon, before he dies. But he is not an easy patient, and the battle of the wills is on between him and her. Madeline has to make him cooperate if he is to receive a new heart, otherwise it won't happen. When a tragedy takes place in the story, a donor match is found for Angel. This part is kind of predictable in some ways, but the ending remains vague for a long time. I enjoyed the book very well and found it a worthwhile read. Madeline and Lina have a long way to go if they are to find peace with pne another, and her father may be closer than she ever knew.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Home Again: A Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
This is the second Kristin Hannah novel I've read. I enjoy the way she uses words and her phrasing. Her use of nouns as verbs etc. I wondered how Madeline's friends and the church felt about Madelaine and Francis's (a priest) relationship. The fact that he loved her and they both knew it. Nothing ever happened between them but there was still that little bit of intrigue. Angel, Francis's younger brother, is the classic bad boy who became famous after leaving his family, pregnant girlfriend and trailer park life behind for ten thousand dollars. The circumstances that brought him back is truly karmic. The same thing seems to happen in real life. The good, kind people who have their priorities straight to begin with, somehow get the short end of the stick. However, their pain seems to aid the truly lost to find their way in their convoluted world. I seldom read a book that makes me cry but this one did. Good read!

This review is from: Home Again: A Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
This is the first Kristin Hannah novel I have read and after finishing it I am definetly a new fan of hers. The book is not just about two people falling in love, it is also about families and what it's like to raise a teenage girl in this day and age. From Hollywood to heart transplants this novel has a little bit of everything and I would recommend it to anyone.
