The BoDeans are one of the gems in the rock n roll industry. The fact that they have never truly "made it big" is an injustice and just shows how little the average fan knows about good rock music. This is the first BoDeans CD I bought. It got me hooked on this band. I have all of their CD's and feel this is the best one to just get you introduced to their music. However, you can't go wrong with any of their recordings. I would give each album a 5 star rating. I don't think I could ever say any one was that much better than the other. Outside Looking In has some great tunes - but, hey, they all do. Catch them live if you ever get a chance - one of the best live shows out there - and I've seen lots to compare them to. You'll love this CD and this band.

"12 CD's for a buck!" I could only find 10 I wanted so I threw in two I had never heard of. The BoDeans - catchy name. This "mistake" back in 1989 has now lead to 10 years of tremendous appreciation of their music. I have eagerly snapped up each new release along with acquiring their earlier releases. I've never been disppointed.
"You Don't Get Much" "Worlds Away" and the haunting "Far Far Away From My Heart" ("I pour another drink and take a hit and I wonder where the smoke goes" - I love it!) these are great songs.
Two questions remain in my mind. 1) When are they ever going to tour Texas? And, 2) Why aren't these guys HUGE?

I first saw the BoDeans in 1985 in Madison, Wis. They have been "my band" ever since. I'm lucky to live in Milwaukee, where they play at least once a year, and have seen them live about 10 times. This album, "Home" is one of their best. Sometimes moody, sometimes rocking, these songs stay with you. The band still plays a lot of these tunes live, which shows these songs are solid. The songs No One and Brand New are two standouts on this great record. See the BoDeans live!

While stationed in Germany during the late 80's, I kept reading about this awesome rockband called the BoDeans. Rolling Stone and other magazines were calling them, "The Band Great Bands Listens To" or "The Best Band You've Never Heard", etc. I returned to the USA in 1989, hoping to catch up with the American rock scene and finally hear the BoDeans. It happened at 2:00am on MTV, while dozing in front of the TV. The opening measures of "You Don't Get Much" began. I didn't catch who the band was, (my eyes were closed when the video started) but I was in a state of euphoria by the time it ended. When I saw that the band were the legendary Bodeans, my mission of the day was to buy their new album "Home". It was one of those rare albums that I listened to over and over for a solid week. In less than a month's time, I had bought their other two albums and saw them live. They were the best live band I'd ever seen. Since then, I've bought every BoDeans album and have seen them live 14 times. "Home" is the album that should have made them America's biggest band. They had the growing fanbase and the opened for U2's Joshua Tree Tour for their previous album. They had the great buzz and critical acclaim. Then MTV screwed them. "Home" did not take off like it should have. Musicians love these guys. They are still together and making great music. Buy this album!!!

These boys are from my home state, Wisconsin. Each CD they produce doesn't just have one or two great songs - they are all great. The lead singing is switched between a couple of band members so you get more variety. They are even better live in concert!!

I first heard "You don't get much" and instantly loved it. I bought this cd and discovered a great band. Then I saw them live at a small club and I was forever hooked! I bought all their cd's that were out at the time and I instantly snap up the new ones. I highly recommend all their cd's and if you get a chance, SEE THEM LIVE. You won't regret it!

I've owned and lost this album many times. I just bought it again for $2 at the local music shop. There are no bad songs-only, well, a little more dull, like Beaujolais, but oh well.

These songs have stood the test of time. This is real, basic rock and roll. And that's a good thing in this case. I'll pick Brand New as my favorite; if that really matters.

The lyrics are beautiful slices of life about hope and boredom and liquor and drugs and missing your lover (and love and hope and sex and dreams).

I saw them in about '87 at school in Madison, WI. They didn't change for the worse, or get electronica or sumpin' stupid.

They're just keepin' it real (yo). Thanks guys.
