Depends on what you are looking for......,
This review is from: Home Budget For Dummies [Old Version] (CD-ROM)
If you need a calendar of when your bills are do, this is great. It is not what I wanted as you cannot put in separate credit card info and keep track of expenses like you would in another software program. I wanted something a little more in depth that I could customize as far as the bill names and put in interest rates, etc.

My favorite home budget,

This is the only budget I've found that allows you to place your items in date order and they appear this was on your screen, with a constant running balance like a bank statement. You can see for instance:
Paycheck_____ 11/01/10_______$XXX.XX____________Balance XXXX.XX Groceries_____11/03/10________________$XX.XX____Balance XXX.XX You can click on any item name at a separate menu at left and edit the amount or date, you can also click on any individual item on screen and change that date's payment amount and date only. Very comfortable. You can also flip 3 months ahead where you have all these pre-entered regular payments & expenses & see how much money you'll have at any given date and plan/adjust your budget accordingly. It's cute and colorful, extremely easy to use. Unfortunately on my brand new computer I had the same problem as one of the reviewers that couldn't open the program. I'm very disappointed & after looking all over could not find anything else like this one. I'm forced to use a simple invoice template I got online as the only thing with a bank-like by date running balance, cause I need to see all my items in order on the same screen and see how each effects my budget. If anyone finds something similar please let me know! |
