This washing tray has made washing my elderly mother's hair so much easier.

We manage to wash her hair this way ... I wish it had more of a rubbber seal around the neck as it doesn't fit and we have to use lots of towels ... but it's okay.

We have used it twice and with me arching my back a pushing back to hold the tray in place water still runs down my neck.

It helps but it's not a great solution. I'm in a wheelchair and I can no longer manage the transfer to the wash basin chair when I have my hair shampooed in a hairdressing salon. Brought the shampoo tray along with me and it was ackward in two respects. It was pretty much impossible to slope the tray from my shoulders down to the level of the wash basin without creating a large gap at the neck. Instead, I had to slide forward in the wheelchair to create a more level surface. Also, because the tray surface is very flat without any "trough", it was very easy for water to run over the sides.

Shampoo tray made a world of difference both for the person shampooing and the person getting the shampoo. A lot less mess too without water getting on the floor. Thank You for the great invention.

I bought this tray for my mother. I needed a way to make it easier on her to wash her hair sitting up. Having arthritis she goes to the hairdresser only so often. The tray does help direct more water away from her body but it isn't like there is a seal around her neck. I have to put a thick towel underneath it at her neck to keep her back from soaking. Still, it helps a good deal. I didn't realize when I bought it that the hose came with it and I was happy about that. Luckily, the faucet/tap is small enough for the hose to slip over it. Otherwise, these hoses can be a pain to get around the tap. I was satisfied and so was she.

The concept is great. The practical usage not so. You need to have the right seat with the right sink. I bought to use this product with two persons with disabilities. The one person stayed dry, but she still had to lean back which put stress on her neck. The second client was unable to keep the tray up snug to her neck and so her back was soaked. The fact that the person needs to take part by holding firm to the straps is a big negative. I will continue to try and find the right fit seat/sink, but I am not overly satisfied with the results so far.

I bought this from a medical supply house three years ago and I regret the purchase every time I use it.

Three years ago, my mother had a devastating stroke and was left paralyzed on one side and in a wheelchair. In order to wash her hair, I decided to buy this. The first time I used it, I discovered that the spray attachment wouldn't stay on any of our faucets, so it was useless. Next, I discovered that the tray's cutout for the neck didn't fit my mother. She has a normal size neck, but a square jaw that seems to interfere with the fit. Pushing the tray as far forward as it would go still left an inch or more gap between the back of her neck and the tray, so that the water spills down her back and onto the floor. I tried the tray on my neck and it didn't fit me either. To try to prevent creating a big, watery mess, I have to wrap a rolled up Chux (a disposable under pad) around my mother's neck and drape her with a plastic beautician's cape.

Now I'm using something that I saw when my mother was in a nursing home salon couple of years ago. It's called a Comfort Cape. Instead of using a tray, the back ends of the cape go into the sink, creating a funnel of sorts. The neck is adjustable and the patient sits upright instead of leaning the neck back. It's more money, but it's much easier on my mother and me.

Unless you are a child, the neck opening won't fit the smallest adult. I should have followed the reviews and not purchased this thing. It was a waste of my time and the only one who made money on it was the shipping company.

First off, anyone with mobility issues who thinks they are going to stay 100% dry during shampoo has unrealistic expectations. I bought this for use on one of my clients who can not tilt their her back. It works good enough. I still had to give her a towel to cover her face and cape her with a heavy cape, but she was stayed about 80% dry -which is way better than what usually happens. I would recommend this product.
