5.0 out of 5 stars I'll Be Home For Christmas, January 5, 2007
This review is from: I'll Be Home for Christmas (Mass Market Paperback)
Christmas of the Red Chiefs by Linda Lael Miller

When Sarah has no where else to go, she and her step-daughter return to her hometown and move in with her aunt. Sarah, a recent widow is without funds, a career and has a stormy relationship with her step-daughter. Although Sarah thinks her situation can't get any worse, she arrives to find her aunt recuperating from a broken ankle and Sarah is forced to run her aunt's carolling business. Sarah finds herself drawn to the widower next door, Joe. Will Joe show Sarah how to find joy in the season?

Christmas of the Red Chiefs by Linda Lael Miller is a great opener to this terrific anthology! Heart-warmingly romantic with a satisfying ending, Christmas of the Red Chiefs put me into the Christmas frame of mind.

Once Upon a Christmas by Catherine Mulvany

Hailey and Thomas missed their chance at romance as teenagers. Now that they are all grown up, the pair lead separate lives. With some angelic help, Hailey and Thomas are brought together for Christmas. Given this second chance, will Hailey and Thomas find happiness together?

In Once Upon a Christmas Catherine Mulvany crafts a tale that appeals to my romantic heart. I love second chances. This was one of my favorite stories in the anthology. Once Upon a Christmas has plenty of romance and Christmas spirit!

Meltdown by Julie Leto

Isabel Ruiz is charged with the task to thaw out the image of CEO Simon Brennan. Little does Isabel know, whenever Simon thinks of her, frost is the furtherest thing from his mind. Simon finds the PR whiz sultry and exciting. With the help of some Christmas magic, can Isabel and Simon's working relationship develop into love?

Julie Leto's Meltdown is a wiggle worthy read! Hot Hot Hot! I loved the chemistry between Simon and Isabel and their love story. With plenty of Christmas magic, Meltdown is a great addition to this holiday anthology.

You Can Count On Me by Roxanne St. Claire

Raquel Durant is excited by her first assignment as a bodyguard. Assigned to protect the child of Grigori Nyekovic during the Christmas holiday, Raquel arrives in New York excited by the opportunity to prove herself. Although Raquel finds Grigori very sexy, she works hard to maintain her professionalism. The attraction is mutal, however. When a priceless antique is stolen, Raquel and Grigori work together to recover it. As the danger escalates, so does the sexual tension.

You Can Count On Me wraps up this anthology brilliantly! Steamy, sexy and full of suspense, Roxanne St. Claire has written an awesome Christmas thriller. Fans of the Bullet Catcher series will love You Can Count On Me.

I'll Be Home for Christmas is a perfect book to put you into the Christmas spirit. It has all the ingredients I look for in a seasonal romance. Filled with happily ever afters, steamy sex, Christmas magic, holiday angels and compelling stories, I'll Be Home for Christmas is a must read this holiday season!

4.0 out of 5 stars four fun Christmas romances, October 1, 2006
This review is from: I'll Be Home for Christmas (Mass Market Paperback)
"Christmas of the Red Chiefs" by Linda Lael Miller. Her husband's sudden death has devastated Sarah Wagner, who has financial woes and a twelve year old stepdaughter Marlie who resents and hates her. The only light in her life is her secret attraction to music teacher Joe Courtland, who is writing a tribute to his late wife while raising twins.

"Once Upon a Christmas" by Catherine Mulvany. Growing up, Hailey Miller was in love with Kennedy MacCormack, but he never gave her a second look as she was the daughter of help on his family ranch. A few years later, Kennedy wants to make love with Hailey, who thinks he is the answer to her prayers until his twin Thomas catches them together. It will take a few years, and a loving spirit for her to get past her youthful humiliation.

"Meltdown" by Julie Leto. The not for profit organization board tasks public relations manager Isabel Ruiz to soften the hard-nosed image of CEO Simon Brennan; if she fails both will be fired as that is a key element of his position. Simon believes this is foolishness as he cares what happens but is professional about it; still Isabel wants to make him smile in the boardroom and bedroom.

"You Can Count On Me" by Roxanne St. Claire. Bullet Catcher employee Raquel Durant is elated that she is finally assigned field work alone. Her assignment is to protect eight years old Kristina Nyekovic. The task is deemed simple and safe for a rookie to handle. However, someone steals a valuable object belonging to Kristina's dad followed by the snatch of the child. Raquel plans to retrieve both safely.

These are four fun Christmas romances that will have readers home to finish a novella a night.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heartstopping Christmas Heros, November 2, 2006
This review is from: I'll Be Home for Christmas (Mass Market Paperback)
Christmas and romance...what a wonderful combination. The stories in "I'll Be Home for Christmas" go beyond the usual hearth and home variety and are sure to warm you to your toes. I enjoyed them all.

Linda Lael Miller's "Christmas of the Red Chiefs" has a traditional tone and an endearing family atmosphere. Joe Courtland is a real keeper.

Catherine Mulvany's "Once upon a Christmas" is a magical, flirty tale.

My favorite stories, though, are Julie Leto's "Meltdown" and Roxanne St Claire's "You Can Count On Me." The sexy, exotic characters are absolutely scrumptious.

Plus, St Claire adds a tingling thrill to the Christmas season with a fabulous New York setting, a gorgeous, passionate foreigner, and a bullet catcher heroine. (I've been anticipating the arrival of a female bodyguard, and I wasn't disappointed)

Overall, this is a fun read that's definitely a terrific jump-start to the holiday season.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sentiment and Spice and Everything Nice, December 28, 2011
By
This review is from: I'll Be Home for Christmas (Mass Market Paperback)
This one was fun. Four stories of about 100 pages each. There was a bittersweet poignancy to Linda Lael Miller's Christmas of the Red Chiefs. The one jarring note in that story was the idea that a woman who hasn't sung at all in years could deliver a soprano solo for a local TV crew on the spur of the moment. Uh, no, I'm not a singer and even *I* know that's not possible. But I liked the character and her love interest was perfect.

Catherine Mulvany's tale, Once Upon a Christmas, was beautifully layered, with that magical/mystical quality that makes a holiday tale that much more special. Loved loved loved the hero and heroine.

Meltdown by Julie Leto, brought some Latina flava to the collection, as well as a magical/paranormal element, though one rarely (ever?) sees Santa Claus and Mayans on the same page. Loved the story, and the tension between the hero and heroine made their consummation even hotter.

The heroine of Roxanne St. Claire's You Can Count on Me kicks ass, and not just in the figurative sense. It's tricky weaving a child into the plot without reducing heat, but she does a fine job.I want to go for a limo drive with a hot Russian former double-agent and some really fine vodka!

Great little book, I highly recommend it to anyway looking for some spicy holiday romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Holiday Romance, November 1, 2006
This review is from: I'll Be Home for Christmas (Mass Market Paperback)
I'll Be Home for Christmas is an excellent collection of four holiday stories sure to warm the hearts of any romance reader.

All four stories are wonderful, but my favorites are You Can Count on Me by Roxanne St. Claire and Meltdown by Julie Leto.

You Can Count on Me is a short Bullet Catcher story so I read it first. It's so wonderful. A female body guard sent to protect a little girl who has a gorgeous mysterious father. Sigh.
Roxanne St. Claire is one of the best writers out there. Don't miss this one.

Meltdown the kind of sexy romance I've come to expect from Julie Leto.
Passionate and fabulous!
