This is a great way to make a tree skirt that looks like it took so many hours to piece. In reality it's strip pieced then cut with a template to create the already pieced & batted wedges. The strip piecing makes for fast work, requiring 15 quarter yard strips 6.25" x 42" each. You place 5 strips together, alternating light, medium & dark. These are sewn into strip sets directly on the batting. You make 3 batted strip sets. Using the wedge pattern you cut across the 5 sewn strips, alternating the direction of the wedge. This results in 15 pieced & batted wedges which you then join together to make the skirt. Add the backing and ties and you have a finished tree skirt. I also stitch in the ditch through all layers to add a more quilted look and secure the front to back. You can use matching patterns or colors or go for a crazy quilt look. Plenty of possibilities.
