The movie centers around a wealthy young girl who takes in a homeless man (Mickey Rooney) during the Christmas Holidays. A bond of friendship and trust grows between them that results in both of their lives being dramatically changed. However, when a secret from the man's past surfaces, he returns to the streets without any goodbye or explanation to the young girl or her family. Will an unexpected Christmas miracle heal all troubles? Although the story and ending are pretty predictable, it is overall an enjoyable family friendly movie.

This movie starring Mickey Rooney is a wonderful movie. The story centers on Rooney, a homeless man, who lives in an old building with other homeless folks. A little girl who wants a grandfather meets him on a park bench and tells her mother about him. He happens to break into her dad's car. He is spotted by the Dad in a department store. They take him home to work off the debt of what he stole. What transpires is a truly wonderful story. It is truly a heartwarming movie.

This is a beautiful Christmas story and Mickey Rooney did an outstanding performance. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a cherished family Christmas movie.

THis movie is a very heart warming story. It makes me cry over and over again. Mickey Rooney does an outstanding job in this movie even in his golden years. He stil is the best actor I've ever seen. He's so natural at what he does, Just a awesome guy! You will love them sweet movie. It's a good family movie, very clean, no bad language at all! Just great!

I recorded this movie a long time ago and was glad to be able to get a copy.

First of all I like Mickey Rooney movies and I like holiday movies, but despite the positive reviews I read here by others (who must have fallen asleep during watching it),..This movie is a real dud. Corny story line. Poor acting by unknown actors...The final scene cracks me up...Mickey Rooney sits there looking like -why did I did I get involved in this? The best movie Mickey did was "It Came Upon the Midnight Clear" with Scott Grimes and Lloyd Nolan...Possibly Lloyd Nolan's final film? A great Christmas movie, well done. But guess what..It's un-available on DVD! The owners of It Came Upon the Midnight Clear could be making a fortune over the holidays if they were smart enough to release it on DVD. I don't know why Mickey Rooney did one excellent Xmas movie and then did a stupid movie "Home For Christmas"? I tried to think of someone to give it away to...But I wouldn't want to waste anyone else's time and them think "This stinks"? So I threw it away. The best Xmas movies are the made for TV films...Don't waste your money on this bomb. Do see "It Came Upon the Midnight Clear" if you ever can find it.

I wanted to like this movie, but I came away thinking it had potential and did not deliver. The premise is a good one: a redemption story set in the Christmas season. Unfortunately, the script is poor and predictable. The actors, including Mickey Rooney, did as much as one can expect with a mediocre screen play. I found myself feeling sorry for the actors trying to make this dud work--- rather than empathizing with their characters as the story played out.

Don't buy this movie. Send me $3 for postage and I'd be glad to send you my copy. On second thought, don't do that. That would be like giving away that old junker car knowing the new owner would be better off without it. Save your cash and get another movie you'd enjoy. There are plenty of good Christmas movies out there.

The movie was a tear jerker and had a good story line to it great job

If you enjoy Mickey Rooney as much as I do, you will buy this DVD. He does an excellent portrayal of a bum or hobo and how he finds his long lost family. I highly recommend this movie for people who enjoy christmas movies and Mickey Rooney.
