My 5 year old son received this for Christmas of 2004. He was very excited to put it together and did so by himself. We ran into some problems though. The clear panel on it won't stay in. The pre-drilled holes on the base were a little too far apart and the panel falls out, making it useless for putting food in. We have yet to fix it. There is also no way to hang the feeder. My Husband says it won't take much to put hooks on it. I think it should have come with some. The quality of the wood and tools are wonderful. Perfect for kids to use. Our kit was just a little off.

Great for kids, just not easy to use as a bird feeder,

We bought this item for my four year old daughter, which is a little young. She had a GREAT time painting it, though not AS much fun putting it together since she's a little young. I love the real tools that come with it that we/they can use on future projects. This item doesn't come with a way to hang it up, and if you do the birds don't like it (at least our birds) because the ledge is too small to eat from. We're working on another way to set it up outside so we can watch the birds eat. Putting the food in was kind of a pain too. But it was a good project and we're mostly happy with it.
