Santa brought this to our 2 1/2 year old twins to replace a small wooden tool bench that just fell apart. This is MUCH nicer. It's a good size for the younger set (though my kids are towards the top of the growth charts) and yet does seem that it will grow with them for the next few years.
It comes with a ton of tools, many with lights and/or sounds. There are separate bits for the electric drill, safety goggles, non-power tools, stationary tools... Anything you could want, and possibly more! It's a pretty big set-up, so be sure you have room for it. Also, it is made out of plastic, and the assembly is from bolts and nuts that go with the set itself, so it feels just slightly more flimsy. I don't have much doubt that it will stay together, but don't expect metal bolts to keep it in place. My boys are playing with it almost as much as their new train - the only thing they actually asked for - and so I consider it a success!

My boys, ages 4 and 2, got this from their grandparents for Christmas. On the plus side: the boys really play together (pretending to work together) for quite awhile with it, there are lots of accessories included (power tools, hand tools, goggles) along with additional items you can get separately. On the minus side, the bench itself is not very sturdy being just thin pieces of plastic (not nearly as sturdy as a Little Tykes item), and the directions included were terrible. There were no written instructions, just pictures that were small and difficult to figure out.
Overall the boys love it, and they haven't destroyed it yet. However I'm glad someone else bought it for them.

My daughter's favorite birthday gift,

My husband insisted we buy this toy for my daughter's 3rd birthday. It was the last gift she opened and the hit of her party. She loves playing with all the power tools and pretending she's fixing things. She received many different gifts for her birthday but this one is definitely her favorite. I just wish this toy would come with more play blocks of wood for cutting and drilling with the tools.

Five Star Work Bench!,

This review is from: Home Depot Power Tools Workshop (Toy)
The Home Depot Work Bench delights our 3-year old grandson. The fun begins with actually assembling the workbench, using the tools that come with it. The toy and all the tools are sturdy enough to withstand light abuse typical of a 3-year old. Proper pressure is necessary for the battery operated tools to work and this didn't take long for him to master. Now when something around the house doesn't work he says "I'll fix it" or "I think it needs new batteries!"

This was the only Christmas gift we needed to purchase for our two-year old son! This bench is used from the time he gets up until the time he goes to bed. It's amazing how much he has enjoyed this bench and we would recommend it to all the little builders! As soon as Toys R Us gets another bench in we are going to purchase another one to place in our flower shop for our a son!!!

My parents bought this for my son's second birthday. He has had more fun with this set. It is very sturdy and comes with an amazing amount of tools and pieces. The only down-side might be from all the noise of the power tools when you have a baby trying to sleep. Other than that, this set is wonderful and very realistic. My son knows all of the tools and likes to help around the house. I highly recomend this set and we are buying my nephew one.

This toy is the best thing, my son who just turned 4 plays with it everyday. It make him feel like he is really building somethings. There are some very small parts so be sure your little one is past the stage of putting things in their mouth.
I really love the fact that it came with batteries in some of the tools. It takes 11 and comes with 5. This is a great buy!

I bought this for my three year old for Christmas last year and it is still one of his favorites. I must admit, some of the smaller parts are a little hard to keep up with and the bench is not as sturdy as I would have liked, but overall it is pretty good. The power tools are his favorite, great sound effects. Overall it was money well spent.

The power tools are great. We bought this for our 3-year old son and he loves it. As parents, both my husband and I felt ripped off because of the quality of the bench - it is flimsy and cheap. However, the tools are really cool and nice. The clock doesn't work because the battery storage is missing the battery circuit connectors - poor caftsmanship! But, overall, our son loves it. If the power tools weren't so nice, I would give this a one-star rating.
