5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great book with some great ideas, February 5, 2000

This review is from: Home Education Curriculum: Grade 3 (Spiral-bound)
This book has a lot of good work sheets and ideas for home schoolers. May also be good for home use with children who need extra work at home on trouble areas. This is one of the best I have found to supplement other text books. It is also great for planning.

4.0 out of 5 stars Complete Curriculum for Homeschooling on the Cheap, July 8, 2005
This review is from: Home Education Curriculum: Grade 3 (Spiral-bound)
This is an awesome curriculum for homeschoolers who don't want to or don't have the money to spend on expensive curriculum packages. The math lessons are very hands-on, promoting maximum grasping of concepts by the student. The math blends heavy use of manipulatives with constant drill and review of the facts like multiplication. This is like Saxon and Singapore combined for a fraction of the cost. Do you want your student to become a good writer? This curriculum will provide that. Social Studies provides many opportunities from interviewing a town official to mapping skills. To make a complete curriculum, just add music, art and the religious studies. Many of those resources can even be found on the internet for free. Only drawback I can see to this curriculum is that you will have to have access to a copier, because the worksheets are non-consumable. Other than that, this is an excellent curriculum, and the lesson plans are clearly laid out for each day, each subject for 36 weeks of the year. Warning: Sadly, this book is now out of print and getting harder to find. If you get it and plan to use it over several years, purchase the different levels as you see them on Amazon or Ebay.

I only wish this was still in print - this curriculum is very easy to follow. The books suggested were all at my library, so it was also relatively inexpensive. In fact, there were more ideas in this book than what we actually used. If you are looking for a great base curriculum, look no further! We've used all the books from K through Grade 6. I just bought them used. The format is simple to follow - each day has a schedule for each subject. In the earlier grades, it took us 1.5 to 2.5 hours to complete one day's schedule. Then on to extracurricular activities!
