so let me say that on balance i think this is a great book. i highly recommend it to any woman who is looking to sharpen her skills and sense of mission in bringing together a sanctuary home. i think that the calling Mrs. Titus feels in bringing women together to revolutionize the sanctity of the home is a great one, and i'm thankful she's doing it.

that all said, i want to clarify (because this wasn't apparent to me when i ordered the book) that this is not "per se" a coffee table book. it is a hardcover book that is coffee-table size, it has beautiful glossy pages and a gorgeous cover. there are a limited number of attractive photos inside (though i don't consider them too different to normal magazine photos).

what this book really seems to be is a workbook, sort of a text-book, of how to put your home together. most pages are filled with (very valuable, but not "coffee-table" artistic) typeface talking in detail about the various homemaking subjects she is writing on.

bottom line: it's a worthwhile, informative Christian guide to building your home. which is great. but it's not a coffee table book in terms of having lots of photography/etc. it's not a book i would leave out for guests to peruse through, because it's intended for serious study.

the one frustration is that i do not actually want to write in this book, it is too nicely put together (semi-glossy pages, hardback) for me to use the workbook portions. i would need to photocopy them. this puzzles me a bit.

This was such a great book - very refreshing. With all of the reading out there on housekeeping, it was nice to read something from a Biblical perspective that renewed my belief that a major part of a woman's purpose is creating a beautiful home....not just one that's asthetically pleasing, but one that is filled with good things and God things! This book has great recipes, great ideas for setting the table and is a great inspiration for "home" makers.

First of all, this book is BEAUTIFUL and would look perfect on any coffee table. Secondly, the content is awesome and any woman would benefit greatly from reading it. It is full of ideas for the home (like cleaning tips) it also has a recipe chapter full of easy to make meals for your family. I have already purchased an extra copy to give as a wedding gift and it was a hit! For those who care (like me) it is packed with pictures and color inside. This one is worth the money!

This book was inspiring and informative. Devi Titus is a woman who loves God and is called to help other women. Our homes are where we can minister to others, of course starting with our families. I recommend this book but I have to mention one thing. I would say that a person would have to have a good income and access to the upper end of where most women I know are living. It would be nice to see some more moderate things that people like me could afford! The main thing is to love God and do with what we have!

The material contained in this book and from the DVD series, is grounded in Biblical perspective and shared in such a powerful way that it has transformed the way I view and DO home. I would hands down recommend the material as top notch to everyone seeking God's perspective on the woman's created role in life. Devi Titus is amazing. I highly recommend the DVD, or at least the CD or audio version, of the teachings from the website for the full impact. The book costs a bit more on the site than through amazon.

I had the pleasure of meeting Devi Titus three years ago in Maryland at a Women's Retreat and purchased her book at that time. I have since purchased several books to share with my clients. I am a wedding Planner and as part of my ministry I use Devi's books to introduce to some and encourage other Christian young women to begin their marriages with Christ as the center and Devi's guide in this book to being a Christian wife is one that I wish I had when I was first married. "Priceless nuggets" through out the book that will lead to a loving and caring relationship with your husband, family, and most importantly, with God.

This book is a must-have for any woman who cares at all about her home and her family! It should be the foundation for every mariage! If you ever have an opportunity to hear Devi or Marilyn teach these concepts in person, do so!

I purchased this book about two weeks ago at a Women's Conference PRIOR to Devi Titus presenting a teachinig on Chapter 4 - about the table. I am so glad that I did, just wish that I had waited to get it autographed. Inciteful, and perfect for the successful woman who has made everything a priority but her home (I am/was guilty). An easy read and a great devotional book, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I FIND MYSELF READING IT ALMOST EVERY DAY. HOME EXPERIENCE IS FULL OF INSTRUCTION AND ENCOURAGEMENT AND WILL INSPIRE YOU TO LIVE IN A WAY THAT GOD INTENDED FOR US TO LIVE.... AT PEACE, AND FULL OF LOVE AND GRACIOUSNESS. IT ALSO WILL LEAVE YOU WITH NO EXCUSES! :) THERE IS A SOLUTION FOR JUST ABOUT ANYTHING YOU CAN THINK OF IN THIS BOOK. I CANT SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS. I LOVE IT.

This book is full of information that would help any woman of any age who has a desire to have a peaceful Christ-centered home. It helps you discover the different personalities of your spouse and members of your family and then gives you suggestions based on their personalities of how to reduce family conflict. It addresses honoring your husband, being the guardian of your home, family mealtimes around the table (the table principle), table etiquette, home organization, priority management, hospitality, and much much more. It is arranged like a study guide with lines to write in answers to questions, but it's so pretty I hated to write in mine. It is a beautiful book to leave out on the coffee table. I have purchased additional books for my daughter and a young married woman I'm mentoring. Highly recommend it...wish I'd had a lot of this information before my kids were grown.
