5.0 out of 5 stars His home is now so far away
It is hard to believe that George is no longer with us. I can't believe that this CD was released in 1994 and I just discovered it recently. If you like George Howard, this is no ordinary CD. Check out his cover of No Ordinary Love.

George Howard was one of the most talented artist ever and he knew what we wanted. He could get funky, but I suspect he is best...

He could get funky, but I suspect he is best remembered for being mellow no matter.

A Home Far Away is one his of best! This CD reminds me of Do you ever Think of Me. His live performances were great also. He always recorded and performed with great back up. Every cut on this CD is right on time.

From the first jam, Miracle, to You Can Make This Story Right and Renewal, this is classic George Howard. This is one of those rare CDs that is played from beginning to end. Check out the way Miracle flows into If You Were Mine and then moves right on to Doria the last jam. Even though you hear the George Howard signature, it is all very, very original. One of his best.

I miss you George. Peace to you in your home far away.

Get it. Get into it. You will not regret it.

I already have the CD. I'm getting this one for my sunshine--Dawn!

5.0 out of 5 stars Passionate and Brilliant, October 26, 2005
This review is from: A Home Far Away (Audio CD)
George Howard is one of the "forgotten" great sax players. He is often passed over on the smooth jazz stations which is a shame. Perhaps this is due to his untimely death in 1998 at only 41 years old from a brain tumor. His talent brims with passion and inspiration.

The opening number "Miracle" has a very sensuous feel. "You Can Make The Story Right" is a gorgeous and fine number. "No Ordinary Love" has an extraordinary feel and powerful arrangement. George's sax solo is very fine. The title song "A Home Far Away" has a warm Caribbean feel with fascinating rythums. "Renewal" has a mellow beginning and a scorching build to the ending. This cd still stands the test of time. George Howard's mix of smooth and funky jazz is always great to hear!

5.0 out of 5 stars perfect for anytime of the day, August 3, 2008
This review is from: A Home Far Away (Audio CD)
I ran across George Howard (his music) years ago when I was in Chicago. I find it to be soothing and perfect for a nice candlelight dinner or when you have a guest at the table. Anytime is a good time and George's music is welcome in our home anytime. The only thing that will make it even better is a nice glass of red wine.
Enjoy..
