I can't say enough about this recording. I've listened to it about five times and I still find it enormously interesting. It combines popular music from the 40s as well as excellent commentary on WWII history. The production is very professional.

This 5 1/2 hour "book"-on-tape is a fascinating look at World War II and its effects on the lives and culture of Americans back home. It really takes those years out of the history book and brings them to life. It is sure to be a nostalgic stroll down memory lane for those old enough to remember it, and for those of us who know that period only from the stories of our parents and grandparents, it is a chance to see a defining part of their life through their eyes.If you know somebody from that generation, listen to it with them. I guarantee it will be a special time for you both!

As a kid, I listened to this entire set on a road trip with my grandparents. It changed my life. I learned more about WW2 in those 2 weeks than I have ever again. I love William B. Williams- his voice is soothing and inviting. I have listened to these tapes a few times since then- and wish I could find it on CD/mp3, so I could have it in my car now!If you've never heard these tapes, you need to fix your life- and order them now!!
