4.0 out of 5 stars Very Helpful for the Person Interested in Homeschooling
This book is 25 years old,and I think we've learned a few things in 25 years, but overall the basic principles in this book were eye-opening and thought-provoking. I'm no longer so fearful of the homeschooling idea and have gained a desire to know more as a result of reading Home Grown Kids.

I don't know why they haven't written a revision, but this book has severely outdated, dangerous advice about newborns/infants. Advocates scheduling 3-4 hours between feedings (regardless of bottle or breast), leaving a newborn to cry it out in the middle of the night so they will learn who's boss (you are allowed to give them water though, but no feedings ha!). It's good for a laugh if you know anything about current advice regarding babies. I'm only giving it two stars because I feel like I shouldn't give it one just based on a couple chapters, *some* parts of the book are helpful. They are still publishing this book, so they really need to be held accountable for this dangerous advice if they aren't going to write a revision.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Practical and useful book., August 8, 2011

I used this book and gained so much from it. The author is so insightful, practical, educational, and spiritual. His advice worked for my child. Thanks God for this book. I am a pharmacist, and found that this book is not outdated at all since I am more traditional in my practice. I do believe a baby also needs to rest their digestive tract before the next meal. We are only stewards for God in taking care of our children. They have to learn to obey us out of reverence to God. Love this book.
