5.0 out of 5 stars Homegrown showcases Michelle's diverse musical style, August 17, 2000
By
This review is from: Home Grown (Audio CD)
Wow! I must say that Homegrown doesn't need any improvement! From the beautiful harmonies of Strength for Two (backed by Emily Saliers of the Indigo Girls) to the powerful lyrics in Brand New Dream, Michelle took no shortcuts with her latest. I highly reccommend it to anyone who has a taste for folk, rock, or female vocalists.

Well, I just bought this CD last night, after seeing Michelle Malone and the Indigo Girls live. Then I went home and listened to it twice in a row, and again this morning when i woke up. It's that good. The depth of emotion and quality in her voice in unbelievable. Buy this CD. and then run to see her live, if you can. You won't regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Michelle Malone rocks, HomeGrown has definately sprouted, September 29, 1999
This review is from: Home Grown (Audio CD)
HomeGrown is fabulous. Michelle Malone has really come alive on this cd. It is down to earth, expansive of relationships, and everyday life people can relate to. I can't stop listening to it, like a long lost friend. Like most of Malone's work, HomeGrown has a variety of mood songs, from peppy to meloncholy. Some is bluesy, folky, and even lounge-like. This cd gives a close feeling of what it's like to see Michelle live, her performance is outstanding. I can't wait for the next one.

This is the first Michelle Malone album I have ever bought. I have heard her sing on some Indigo Girls' records so I thought I would give her a try. This is such a great record with lyrics I can relate to and a great variety. Michelle has a sweet voice and a real talent for poetry. I recommend this album highly! Definitely a must have!

5.0 out of 5 stars If I could give this 10 stars, I would..., March 25, 2002

Without a doubt, this is Malone's strongest effort. In a word of fast food, fast guitar, and flash-in-the-pan dance dollies taking over radio, Malone is a refreshing, relaxing and much needed musical break from the mainstream. Her duet with Indigo Girl Emily Saliers, "Strength for Two" is vocally rich and lush...her guitar playing is clean and impeccable. You can't go wrong with this disc. Kill your radio and support independent music!

4.0 out of 5 stars surprisingly good, October 4, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Home Grown (Audio CD)
If you mixed a pinch of Sheryl Crow's sexy sass and a dash of the Indigo Girls' earnest folk-rock underpinnings, Michelle Malone might be the result. Although sometimes a little sophomoric lyrically, this Southern gal thoroughly pleases on her independent, "homegrown" release. If you get the chance, see her live and you'll be even more impressed.

5.0 out of 5 stars The real deal!, December 12, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Home Grown (Audio CD)
Michelle opened for an Indigo Girls concert I attended this week and I was completely blown away by her talent...I had never heard of her before. Her voice was magical, her songs "real" and touching, and her spirit was refreshing. I immediately bought this CD and have been hooked ever since. Her voice and style are a mix between Norah Jones and Janis Joplin...totally unique and original. Thank God there are female artists like this around to provide us decent musical fufilment. Buy this CD, you will love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing voice and songwriting, June 25, 2000

I bought this CD after hearing her in concert. Michelle Malone has a powerful voice with a folksy, revved-up sound. She can also play a mean guitar and harmonica - at the same time!
