5.0 out of 5 stars WOW! Very Hip, very cool, very Xmas
Having bought various OM releases over the years, I'm very familar with the smooth jazzy hip-hop sound many of their artists are known for. This holiday release is no exception. The crew at OM put a very classy, urban feel to the classics. I especially likes the smooth vocals on "Winter Wonderland" and the house feel of "Still Still Still"...

3.0 out of 5 stars HOme for the Holidays
I bought this album on a whim. Just something a little different to add to my Christmas music collection. The music is very tracey (not house music) and you sometimes have to really listen to hear the traditional carol or Christmas song underneath...but it is an enjoyable listen. Was great at my Holiday party.

The crew at OM put a very classy, urban feel to the classics. I especially likes the smooth vocals on "Winter Wonderland" and the house feel of "Still Still Still". "Charlie Brown Cut Up" has this great hip-hoppy vibe with beats and scratches laid under a vocal track of "Hark the herald angels sing".

If you're looking for the ultimate cool and hip Christmas CD for your party this year, this is it!

I heard this album while doing my Christmas shopping and immediately was taken aback by the fresh beats put on the old seasonal classics and the overall musical innovation. I leave this in my car stereo all year long! A great introduction to the talents of the OM artists.

I love this CD. I discovered this Christmas genre a few years back and keep hoping for MORE Christmas chill CD's. I begin looking in July each year.

I have probably 12-15 of these, and this one is in my Top 2! :) The other one is called, "Christmas Eclectic"

OM, bring on more!!

5.0 out of 5 stars new holiday classic, December 20, 2003

In a time when chillout is threatening to be the new Muzak, it is always nice to see something that strives to be something more than flop-around-the-housemusic. Om, as its name indicates, has always strove to be an interconnection of downtempo with a spiritual/intellectual flair, and this couldn't have been a better expo for their platform. Most of these songs sound strangely appropriate for any time, by this I mean they do not sound like they will be dated when played, say, 10 years or longer from now; which I predict will happen. Listening to the album in sequence, I dare you to not freeze and be mesmerized when the vocals for "Sing Sing Sing" start up. And I'm not even gonna tell you about "Charlie Brown"... I wanna keep that a surprise so you can laugh through the traffic like I did. So buy, the least I can say is that for eleven dollars its the best and most spiritually sincere album this holiday. If you prefer "peace on earth" to "toys n trees" this will move you from the hips down and the neck up.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Chill Christmas CD, December 7, 2009
This review is from: Home for the Holidays (Dig) (Audio CD)
If you're looking for a great Christmas chill album, this is it! This was the first Christmas chill out CD I bought, and since then, I've tracked down the other well known examples of the genre: Reindeer Room, Mistletoe Lounge, Christmas/Holiday Remixed, Christmas Chill Out, Merry Mixmas, etc, etc. hOMe for the holidays is definitely my favorite.

Overall, I would describe this as a Chill Out album, but there's a unique mix of artists represented here, and some songs have smooth jazz influences, while others lean more towards trance or deep house music, and other tracks are just good old fashioned remixes of Christmas classics. Unlike some of the other Christmas chill albums, all of the songs here have good production values, and there is a ton of variety in the song selection (some of the other CDs in the genre sound like they were made in someone's basement, using GarageBand). For me, the highlights of the album are the two tracks by Kaskade, as well as "Winter Wonderland" by Sutro Heights, and "Songs of the Morning" by Late Night Alumni (the audio preview of this track doesn't do it justice; it cuts out right when the amazing vocals kick in). Oh, and did I mention that this album contains two remixes of songs from Vince Guaraldi's epic Charlie Brown Christmas score?

You really can't go wrong with this CD. If you want a Christmas album you can bump in your car and not be embarrassed by, or if you want some yuletide jams that you can listen to in July, this is it!

4.0 out of 5 stars welcome change, March 5, 2008
This review is from: Home for the Holidays (Dig) (Audio CD)
It's not so much that i don't like christmas music... it's just that you get beaten to death, from halloween 'til new years, by the same few tunes - year after year after year (ad infinitum). this is a much overdue addition to your holiday music options.

If you own a disc or two of this type of music, you already own this one. Nothing different. You've already heard it. Skip this one and check out Merry Mixmas-Christmas Classics Remixed or Reindeer Room Vol.1 instead.
