5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful story of a beautiful love., July 6, 2008
This review is from: Home at Last (Harlequin Superromance No. 161) (Paperback)
One of the wonderful things about this romance is that the hero and heroine are apart for about 7 years but the heroine does not go with another man for the whole of that time. Because she was in love. Unlike about 99% of all other so-called romances. I bet the author had to fight the editors tooth and nail for that.

Also this is a middle-class romance where earning power is not an issue. The heroine is the daughter of a veterinary surgeon; she then develops into a successful artist in her own right. And the hero is a doctor who has his own clinic in Phoenix, Arizona. Leah married Jacob when he was basically a vagrant amnesiac that her father brought to their house. She fell in love with Jacob, they got married and had a little baby girl. Then Jacob recovers his memory of his old life but forgets about his new life. Leah meets him again when he commissions some art from her and basically Jacob falls in love with her all over again. Leah doesn't tell him that he is in fact her husband until Jacob is sure of his feelings.

It's a beautiful, emotional story with an unsurprising ending. There are even some hot scenes. Leah is a fantastic heroine and a good mother. Loving, forgiving, and completely understanding of her husband in both his guises. There is a baddie but neither Leah nor Jacob can be bothered to seek vengeance once they realise how happy they are together.

I have found that the best romances (ie about that wonderful emotion called love) are written by some of the least known authors. And this is one of them.

The cover illustration is also beautiful.
