5.0 out of 5 stars better than Home Owner's Diary
I ordered this one and the Home Owner's Diary, intending to keep one for myself and give the other as a present. They are both the same price, and from the amazon descriptions I couldn't tell which one would be better. Both are good, but I like the way the Journal is organized better, it gives you more room to add additional notes etc. on each page in an extra column...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not what I thought it was.
This is more of a decorating book if you ask me. It gives you spaces to put what dimension e/thing in your house is. It is not a bad book, but it is not what I thought it was. I was looking for a book to store info on when the last time I cleaned the air ducts in the house, etc...stuff like that. Maybe I am looking more for a maitenence book. This book would be useful in...

Both are good, but I like the way the Journal is organized better, it gives you more room to add additional notes etc. on each page in an extra column. Also it has cute little quotes on some pages. I ended up giving the journal as a present and returning the Diary ... I will re-order the journal for myself. If you can't make up your mind either - maybe this will help you.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Best Home Owner's Journal Out There, March 2, 2004

I purchased 3 Home Owners Journals from different companies and found this one to be the best. The journal breaks down each room in the house so you can write in the square feet, appliances, color, repairs, etc. There is even a pocket page in the back for reciepts or warranties. I will be giving this as a closing gift for all of my Home Buyers. I even contacted the company and gave a list of sujestions for the next edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars What A Tremendous Find!!!, September 27, 2003
This review is from: The Home Owner's Journal, Fifth Edition (Spiral-bound)
Now we can keep all of the details about our home in one easy to use book. It's perfectly organized to make record keeping a breeze. We're in the process of entering all of the data we'll need for future references. We're planning to give Home Owner's Journal to our friends who just moved into a new home in Auburn, California.

Special thanks to Confluence Publishers out of Grand Junction, Colorado for providing this book. It's very helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Santa Cruz Reviewer is Crazy!, July 14, 2004

I don't know what the Santa Cruz reviewer is thinking. This is a handy book, and has helped me keep track of many different maintenance and renovation details of my home. The reviewer says he can't store his household manuals in this book. Of course not! What book exists that allows someone to store all such manuals? If you are looking for a method to simply and easily keep track of paint colors, vendor names and numbers, warranty information, etc., I strongly recommend this convenient, affordable journal.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is so handy!, October 5, 2005
This review is from: The Home Owner's Journal, Fifth Edition (Spiral-bound)
We got this book when we purchased our first house about 7 years ago and we have recorded every renovation and repair. Very handy for keeping track of dates, paint colors, contractor info, etc. I do admit there isn't much space for keeping loose papers (like paint chips, receipts, etc.) but that is a minor drawback.

These make great housewarming gifts!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good recordkeeping, September 18, 2008

This book makes it easy to keep all your home information in one spot. Measure your windows once, write it down in the book, and you are ready to buy new window treatments any time. Keep track of your purchases and know how much money you have spent on home improvements. Write down paint colors, etc., and you won't have to wonder when you need another quart for a touch up. Put your furnace or AC info in the book and you won't have to climb around trying to read the little numbers on the appliance if you need a repair. We had a previous edition of this book for the home we recently sold, and I made a special point to get this book for the house we just bought. It makes my recordkeeping so much easier and I can find all my information in one place.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quick and easy, January 20, 2007
This review is from: The Home Owner's Journal, Fifth Edition (Spiral-bound)
The hardest part to using this reminder (fill-in the pages book) is taking the time to write down what you did to your house. Be it painting-- the kitchen or replacing the waterheater. The book is user-friendly and the spiral binding allows to to lay flatt to easily write in. Virually all rooms, appliances, etc. are listed on separate pages. Referring back to finding an event is just thumbing thru the pages to the room, etc.
Wall coverings; bedroom 1,2,3; measurements, cleaned by, brand, date purchased, costs, etc. are all things asked of you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Book For A New Home/Cabin Owner, August 9, 2006
By
This review is from: The Home Owner's Journal, Fifth Edition (Spiral-bound)
I bought an older edition of this book for my then five year old home a few years ago and kicked myself that I had not purchased it sooner. I was determined not to make that mistake again, so when my family decided to become cabin owners the first thing I did was order the lastest edition. I am very glad that I did. It has been very helpful.

4.0 out of 5 stars Made the right choice!, April 9, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Home Owner's Journal, Fifth Edition (Spiral-bound)
I purchased this book to keep track of things as we moved into our first home. I did a lot of research on these types of books, and even ordered a couple that I returned. Other books seemed to be missing sections that they could have easily filled in. Some of the others were small and you could not store very many loose pages in.

When we moved in we made sure to take some time to go through the book and fill in all the information about our appliances as well as much as we could about colors and brands of things like the flooring or cabinets. We also painted most of the walls and I was able to attach the paint color swatch so that we could easily find it if we needed more. This book also is ring bound, which i really wanted that way it could be opened all the way and did not close on you. This was important to us as it did take a little while to fill out the book. This book is fantastic.

I gave it 4 stars because it would be nice to have folders in it to hold more stuff, but i was able to paperclip and staple where I needed, and at least it was big enough to hold that!
