I recommend the book to anyone who has a passion for paper or art.

Because most of the ideas are so beautifully basic, they can easily be added to or tweaked to create different looks and more complicated designs.

With beautiful photography, easy-to-follow directions, and materials specifically selected to be accessible and found around the home, Home, Paper, Scissors is a great paper crafting manual. Many of the projects are simple and inviting enough to share with my young children, while others, though more challenging, result in stunning and sophisticated finished pieces that belie their common materials composition.

As a paper crafter myself, one of the aspects I like best about Zapata's book is the invitation to vary the materials and design of so many of the projects. Because most of the ideas are so beautifully basic, they can easily be added to or tweaked to create different looks and more complicated designs. Zapata, herself, offers many suggestions and tips for customizing the projects, allowing for different aesthetics and uses.

Fans of Zapata's blog, A Little Hut, will appreciate the stripped down, modern style of these projects, as well as Zapata's clear and pleasant descriptions. It's beautiful as a coffee table book, accessible as a crafting guide, and inspiring as an artist's portfolio. I highly recommend this book.

I have to disagree with the negative reviews - this book is gorgeous and inspiring. It's beautifully presented, the photography is lovely and the projects are fantastic. I made two of the items for Christmas presents and they were HUGE hits! One of them (a mobile) did take me longer to make than the timeframe given but worked out perfectly. The instructions are comprehensive and clear, and the author is super-helpful - I sent a question (about another project from her website) and received a response almost immediately!

This book was okay. Didn't care for all of the crafts. Only liked a select few. However, the photos were good and the instructions were understandable.
