About the Author

William K. Wasch who with his architect daughter, Christina E. Wasch, designed the Middletown House, a completely accessible house for older persons which won the 1999 Innovative Senior Housing Award from The National Association of Homebuilders. He co-founded the Independence Resource Center, a non-profit organization which conducts accessibility studies of federally financed housing for seniors and people with disabilities. Wasch lives in Middletown, Ct and serves on the boards of Wesleyan University and The National Council on the Aging.

A very good basic reference resource for people contemplating building or remodeling a house for their retirement. Each section offers a reading list for gaining in-depth information on the topic covered. There is also a planning guide with which to evaluate options relative to personal needs and resources. Highly recommended by this retiree.
