Seriously, this is one of my favorite cd's. The deep voice of Miah is accompanied very well by the sounds of the guitars and drums and the melody that surrounds words that are just beautiful.

This disc is excellent. If I were to recommend anything in the current goth scene as a must-have disc, this would be it. This is late 80s/early 90s-style goth played exactly the way it should be. Think a slightly harder Sisters of Mercy with better sound quality; or, similar to, but much much better than, Seraphim Shock.

I won't repeat things the editorial reviews have said, but I will echo the thoughts of Mystycvamp by saying: "By this disc, you won't regret it!"

Also, if you live in or near Salt Lake City, go see them live!

Back in the 80's we had one the better bands of all time and of all genres: The Sisters of Mercy! As time bore on it became more and more apparent that Andrew Eldritch had either called it quits, or was taking a really long break. No need to worry though, fans of the original Sisters' sound found something quite familiar by the mid-90's with the likes of Rosetta Stone and The Wake. Were they merely pale imitations of a superior band? Well, sort of and yet not at all---simutaneously I might add. Alas, The Wake was defunct after two albums and Rosetta Stone (who seems quite defunct today) decided to become a pale imitation indeed of NIN. Now, another decade on, we have Redemption.

Redemption's first major release, "Home," certainly brings back memories of that old Sisters sound. Is the band a mere mirror of the legends themselves? Thankfully, no! Still, one can't help but draw comparisons when enjoying this album. I guess I'm trying to say that fans of The Sisters of Mercy should find something quite palatable with Redemption's debut.

By far (in my humble opinion) the opening track, "Times Like These," is the strongest cut. Here we have pulsating rhythms, hard "crunchy" guitar, and "swirling" keyboards backing up Miah's (the lead vocalist) deep, resonating baritone. Hmmmm, sounds like the Sisters to me. The second track, "Disillusion," delivers more of the same and is probably my second favorite on the disc. After that, things begin to slow down a bit and at times grow a bit repetitive---this is due, perhaps, to the fact that many of these songs clock in at around 7 or 8 minutes.

Overall, this is a fine debut that shows quite a bit of promise. The opening tracks are already "classics" in my mind, and that's certainly no small feat!
