Book Description

June 29, 2010
The first book in The Homeschool Reader Series, this is an important compilation of many key homeschooling writers and authors whose work appeared in the first ten years of Home Education Magazine: 1984 through 1994. The writers featured here include the widely respected education critic and author John Holt, the prolific and still active Linda Dobson, authors and political analysts Larry and Susan Kaseman, the inimitable John Taylor Gatto, Home Education Magazine publishers Mark and Helen Hegener, plus Earl Stevens, Donn Reed and many, many more - encompassing a broad spectrum of homeschooling approaches and ideologies. The Homeschool Reader Series showcases the history of this important educational approach and gives perspective to the future of the homeschooling movement. This book effectively addresses specific issues such as finding resources, testing and accountability, teaching and learning, unschooling, high school & college and many others. Home Education Magazine's sterling 28-year reputation for publishing the best writing on this important subject shines through in this ongoing series of books.
