Ms. Jones has a knack for great things - great characters, great plot, and great dialogue. Her stories draw you in and wrap around you like a cozy blanket. They're entertaining and funny, and this one is no exception. I enjoyed Hank and Emma's story; it was interesting to watch the tension between them build. I have to say, I liked Hank a whole lot more than Emma. She was a little too uptight, but since she's a single mom, I could see how she came to be that way. Does Emma eventually loosen up? She might; she might not. I won't tell, but I will say, however, that in the end this story will warm your heart and make you think. Looking forward to Ms. Jones upcoming books.

Hank Corsaut and Emma Newberry had been in love ten years ago, but an announcement made on the eve of their elopement sent Emma running away. Now she was back with her daughter. Hank wondered where life had taken her, and soon began to wonder if there was a chance for them to rekindle what they once had.

This is a very short summary of what this book was about. It doesn't do the book justice. The love story was very sweet. I absolutely LOVED Hank and thought he would make a great Dad for Rachel.

I could not give this book five stars because of Emma's attitude toward her daughter. Born a preemie, Rachel had suffered brain damage that would never get better or worse. Emma, however, seemed to focus on her daughter and make sure everyone knew she was different. I grew very uncomfortable with how Emma treated her daughter. She worried and fretted that others would treat her daughter badly when she treated Rachel badly herself. I cringed at times when she said her daughter couldn't do this or that. She coddled her daughter, thinking she was having a mental breakdown of sorts when she was merely throwing a fit. Hank did his best to convince Emma of this, but I'm not sure she really did get it. Also, Emma stated that Rachel would always be with her - she'd never be able to be out on her own. BULL!!!

Emma redeemed herself, however, by loosening up and coming to the realization that her daughter should be treated as a normal child. She may need to be taught harder than others, but Rachel deserved the courage to dream. In the end, Emma made the right choice. I think Hank will take a firm hand with both Rachel and Emma and make sure Rachel is treated right.

She further redeemed herself by finally seeing the light with her doctor friend. I'm proud of her reaction. I don't think she would have said the same thing at the beginning of the book.
