4.0 out of 5 stars A solid offering from a great, underappreciated band..., May 8, 2002

Having been a Paw fan from the start, this release gave me the thrills I was looking for. Growth lyrically & musically are obvious from the lead-in to the lead-out on this disc. The gritty, catchy and naughty "One Handed..." is a power track that you'll growl along with, "Blow Wind" will leave you remembering an experience you never had and "Naiad" will tug at you the way that "Couldn't Know" did on Dragline. I'm only luke-warm on "Oily Rags," but only because I've always listened to Paw for Mark Hennessy's voice and not Grant Fitch's. Grant's not a bad vocalist, but he's not the powerhouse that Mark is. Rock & Roll with a hungry edge- that's what Paw will provide you with. Intelligent lyrics about interesting things. No wonder they don't get airplay anymore!
Enjoy this offering, there may not be more from these guys... Check out the Paw egroup if you're a fan- info, bootlegs and more for the diehard Paw fan.

4.0 out of 5 stars where are they now?, August 23, 2003

PAW, were one of my favourite bands in the 90's. Somehow missed out of the grunge explosion (PAW's vocals give mr vedder a run for his money) Imagine eddie mixed with Mark Lanegan and a ton of agression and country thrown in, and you have an idea (dont let the country put you off.) PAW deserved to be so big. I put them up there with alice in chains, tool etc. Where are they now?? I would love it if they released some new material. back to the review.... this ep is not as strong as their fisrt 2 albums. The songs are awsome, but the production on the vocals dont do them any justice. They kind of sound like early clutch, which isn't a bad thing, just less PAW sounding. so, start off with the 2 lp's, and then top it off with this cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, June 8, 2004

I just found out that this cd exists. I spent quite a few years sad that these guys were no more. I look forward to more. These guys are the antidote to the formulaic crap that is being force fed to us on all these so-called rock stations. PAW is rock and roll period.

4.0 out of 5 stars So Glad They're Back, March 4, 2001
This review is from: Home Is a Strange Place (Audio CD)
I just can't relate how psyched I am that Paw are back on the scene. How long they stick around remains to be seen but at least they've dropped off some more music.

This is a great EP for the Paw faithful, and it will be pretty good to those of you checking them out for the first time. But like all good stories, you need to start at the beginning here. Get "Dragline", then get "Death To Traitors" and then this disc.

The disc shines enough thanks to "Blow Wind". What an amazing son. Great tune with a great blend between the Dragline and DeathTT moods. The track "Naiad" is great as well, while "One Handed in the Red Room" is good. The rest of the disc is filler, but it gives off a great overall mood.

Having spent a lot of time in Kansas (where dey from) this disc just gives me a feel of sitting in a barn with a bottle of whiskey and wondering "what the hell".

Paw fans, buy this now. Hopefully the band will make another album soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good to be back HOME..., August 23, 2000
This review is from: Home Is a Strange Place (Audio CD)
After nearly 5 years of waiting, finally some new Paw tunes!! This works really well as an EP. If you are a Paw fan or looking for a new band to get into, you need this now! "Blow Wind" and "Naiad" are great songs, two of their best ever! The new material definitely has the trademark Paw elements from their first two releases, "Dragline and "Death to Traitors". Overall though it has a different vibe and sound than either of those. It's darker and more complex musically. It's great to finally hear some new music from this highly under-rated band. Hopefully there won't be a five year wait until a new Paw release...

5.0 out of 5 stars Long time coming, September 8, 2000
This review is from: Home Is a Strange Place (Audio CD)
Thank god these Kansas boys are still making music! This album kicks but just as much as their prior 2 releases (Death to Traitors and Dragline). Let's hope they keep playing together and that their new label Koch will better promote them than their previous label. Great everything....

5.0 out of 5 stars The Long Wait Is Over!, August 30, 2000
By A Customer

Wow, I pretty much gave up on Paw. I saw them live several times and was a HUGE fan of their first two releases. I figured it was split city since I hadn't seen anything from them in 5 years, but I was just pleasantly surprised when I saw this had been released. If you like Paw, you will love "Home.."! If the band reads this, thank you for continuing to put out material, you are embarrassingly under-rated and what a sound! Look forward to your next release in 2002 (I hope)!
