5.0 out of 5 stars Superb book!, January 24, 2009
This review is from: Home Sweet Home: Helping Elders Age in Place (Paperback)
It starts out: "Most people say they want to die at home with their loved ones around them. But most die in a hospital. Alone." I was hooked.
Linda's writing about elder care is as dynamic and easy to follow as her live speaking engagements. She claims that 75% of caretakers report it as a negative experience. But after you study her great book you can make it a valuable and meaningful experience, instead. Don't wait too long to get it if you have aging parents. It will make your life easier, and theirs too.
It's like Linda is in your living room with you, coaching and supporting you. And only those who've been through the agonizing time of ailing parents can appreciate what that would be like.
Complete information from her profession as a geriatric care manager, so you can be your own family care manager. Even the forms have tips on how to use them or thoughts about the topic. The resource section is thorough and has Linda's comments, too.

Anybody can acquire a disability as a result of illness or injury. The older we become, the more likely we will experience disability.

In "Home, Sweet Home", disability and seniors expert Linda LaPointe provides a comprehensive insight into the characteristics and needs of elders and people with disabilities. "Home, Sweet Home" supplies family and paid caregivers with unique forms and extremely helpful tips for planning, organizing and providing safe caregiving.

"Home, Sweet Home" also informs family members about available resources, and instructs relatives about hiring and maintaining caregivers. I appreciate the practical binder format of this valuable compilation.

I advise EVERYONE to read "Home, Sweet Home", an enlightening book that prepares readers BEFORE their loved ones endure crises or disability.
