Ever since I read Henri Nouwen's book about the Parable of the Prodigal son, I've wanted to know more about Henri. This book takes you into his life and you learn about the struggles he went through.

This review is from: Home Tonight: Further Reflections on the Parable of the Prodigal Son (Paperback)
HOME TONIGHT is a book to provoke thought and self examination.
It deals with the issues of belonging, forgiveness and home in new ways that I hadn't considered before. It is a sequel to THE RETURN OF THE PRODIGAL.

Beautifully crafted from Nouwen's notes and workshops, this book touches the deepest longings and fears of those who feel alienated by life and circumstances.

One of the best of Nouwen's books!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great reflective book, October 24, 2009

This review is from: Home Tonight: Further Reflections on the Parable of the Prodigal Son (Paperback)
I am half way through the book and it is wonderful. You have to look deep inside yourself and take the time to read and reflect. We are using it at our church bookclub and everyone is having a different experience. Some like to journal, some find it difficult. In any event, we are all enjoying the book and the Prodigal Son. It is amazing how many times you can read this passage and gain something new. I would suggest having a better picture of the Return of the Prodigal Son. It is very hard to see on the inside cover.

Second installment of the first book.
The initial offering is one of my favorites.
This one adds to it and continues Henri's journal of his very holy and searching path.
I am not into canonizing people, but Henri would probably get my vote.

5.0 out of 5 stars Review on Home Tonigh, August 8, 2011

This review is from: Home Tonight: Further Reflections on the Parable of the Prodigal Son (Paperback)
I really have enjoyed this book so far. I have read Nouwen's book "The Return of the Prodigal Son". After reading a couple of chapters of "Home Tonight", it has made me look at the parables a little more different and look at my vocation in a different manner. Henri Nouwen's writings have been very inspirational to me and in my vocation.

So wonderful and powerful and insightful! Absolutely love this book! Makes sense! I have read this book and find myself going back to it time and time again. Each time I read it I gain something and gain a sense of peace and joy. There is truth in the writing. I love all the quotes referenced. So much to think about ... So much to ponder ... I keep this book on my desk at work and often reach for it. If your soul is yearning for a greater message - pick this book up! Highly recommend.

I gave the book to someone to read before I had a chance to read it. She was very moved by it and told another person. The outcome, 15 of our Ladies of Charity bought it and 10 are coming every Monday for a book discussion. We have never done this before, but this book is very meaningful.
