4.0 out of 5 stars Fretblanket matures on "Home Truths From Abroad&qu
Score another victory for the English 4 piece Fretblanket. These guys, (who were only 17 when they released their debut album "Junkfuel") have definitely come of age on "Home Truths From Abroad." If catchy, modern guitar driven rock is your thing, you should definitely pick this one up. Vocalist Wil Copely and lead guitarist Clive Powell, both...

3.0 out of 5 stars Only the first three songs are excellent!
I was introduced to Fretblanket in November 1997 when their video for "Into the Ocean" premiered on an MTV program named 12 Angry Viewers. I IMMEDIATELY fell in love with the video, as did the panelists on the show, who voted it Best Video for that week ---thus giving it a little extra air time. In fact, I know a couple of people who are puzzled as to why MTV...

Score another victory for the English 4 piece Fretblanket. These guys, (who were only 17 when they released their debut album "Junkfuel") have definitely come of age on "Home Truths From Abroad." If catchy, modern guitar driven rock is your thing, you should definitely pick this one up. Vocalist Wil Copely and lead guitarist Clive Powell, both show amazing prowess in their craft, and I can honestly say that as a band, you would be hard pressed to find a better group of songwriters. ~ From the opening notes of the upbeat "Into the Ocean," until the last notes of the far too short "Me & the Stars," Fretblanket will grab you hook, line, and sinker. If you like this one, I definitely recommend their first CD "Junkfuel," which is my absolute favorite CD of all time. Give these guys a listen, you'll thank yourself. Where are they now? If anyone can tell me, please drop me a line at thehazer75@hotmail.com...

5.0 out of 5 stars Best CD I've Heard in a Long Time, July 22, 1998

Simple, Fretblanket's a small band on a big-time label (Polydor), a great one however. Awesome videos, great CD, every song gets stuck in your head.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD, too bad they haven't gotten the notice they deserv, July 2, 2000

I picked this up for the single Into The Ocean cuz I couldn't find it on MP3 and was amazed at how good this album is - I even bought their prior release. At 1st I just listened to that song (#1) but sometimes I could not get to my Cd player to change it or forgot after that song was over and soon I thought 4 was a great song. Then 5. Then 9. Then the whole CD when I actually listened too it. Great range from acoustic (Killer, Stars) to rock-out (Hammer, Supercool) to everything in between (Sleep). I have my CDs in an album in order from best to worst and this CD is in the #1 spot. Example of hugely overlooked yet extremely talented band. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Who's heard of Fretblanket!?, October 23, 1999
This review is from: Home Truths From Abroad (Audio CD)
Definitely one of those bands you have to stumble across or hear about from a friend. It's well worth the stumble. One of the best CD's that I have listened to within the last two years. It has everything you could possible want on an album.

Firstly, to whoever said this could be more poppy, you're a whore..if you want pop buy pop albums, spice girls or something...retard...I found this by accident and ordered it b/c it was so cheap, and I was literally shocked at how good it was...a great buy for a rock fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Garage band make good., April 12, 1999

If you could only ever have one CD ,have this one, it's got it all. Let Fretblanket take you on a musical tour from the straight no-nonsense rock and roll of Into The Ocean and Supercool through the acoustic guitar driven ballad Killer in a Former Life and the emotion rich Accident en Route and back through Green as Green which borders on becoming an anthem. I defy you not to join in with the chorus! They play with the energy and confidence that can only come from knowing that what they have is good, real good and so they should, the evidence is all here, Fretblanket have got what it takes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ear candy from Fret-land!, August 12, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Home Truths From Abroad (Audio CD)
This is one of the best new albums I have listened to in a long time. Fretblanket may have its British influences but it still allows its tunes to be diverse and rockin'. They are sure to get noticed soon with this CD - especially Supercool, which is the best rock/punk sound I have heard since the Sex Pistols. Way to be!

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent album!!!!, August 11, 1998
By A Customer

When I popped this CD into my player I immediately loved this band! The first single, "Into the Ocean" and the second, "Supercool" bring various images to the mind. Their influences must be immence because their style cannot nor should not be narrowed down.
