This handbook for home visitors provides functional, field-tested techniques for enhancing parent and child development. Specific examples drawn from actual home visits complement enlightening discussions of issues such as how to teach parents about their child's development, what to do when parents or children are unresponsive or unwilling to cooperate, and how to use personal strengths to reinforce the parent-home visitor relationship.

Written from a multidisciplinary perspective and incorporating more than 20 years of experience and research, this essential book is a daily-use reference for educators, nurses, social workers, therapists, and anyone involved with home visiting.
