5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely his strongest album! Definitely 5 stars!!
This album is so great. It starts off with the roaring "Love Made Me Do It," which is basically a song saying the occasional trouble that comes with love is worth having it. "Hello L-O-V-E" is a great up-tempo two-step number about love lost and then found again. "Home To You" is a passionate ballad for the one you run home to every day...

1.0 out of 5 stars Home to You
CAUTION! This CD is not worth your money! I was severly disappointed with this effort from JMM. I tried to give him one last chance, but this takes the cake for pitiful. If I could give it less than 1 star, I would. Go buy Tim Mcgraw...now THAT'S MUSIC!

This album is so great. It starts off with the roaring "Love Made Me Do It," which is basically a song saying the occasional trouble that comes with love is worth having it. "Hello L-O-V-E" is a great up-tempo two-step number about love lost and then found again. "Home To You" is a passionate ballad for the one you run home to every day. "Your Love Lingers On" is a great mid-tempo song about how a woman's love is still around, even though she isn't. "You Are" is a beautiful and passionate up-tempo song saying all that that special someone is to them. I listen to that song the most on the album. I hope he releases it as a single soon. "Sinkin' In" is another great ballad about how grateful he is that she let love come to him slow and steady, and that he now has her to love. "Holding An Amazing Love" is another great ballad celebrating the love of a great woman. "When Your Arms Were Around" is one of the few songs of regret, with a man wanting to be free from his woman, then realizing when it's too late that his life was so much better when his woman was around. "Love Is Our Business" is another great up-tempo number comparing the love he and his woman share to a business doing well. "Nothing Catches Jesus By Surprise" is a great song of redemption. You get the feeling he is singing the love songs to his wife. None of his material on this album is second-rate. It is all top-notch stuff. I hope he continues this on his next album.

5.0 out of 5 stars JMM Back to Basics - Great CD!, June 22, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Home to You (Audio CD)
On Home to You, John Michael is at his best and shows his versatility, with several high-energy, up-tempo songs such as Hello L.O.V.E, Love is our Business, Love Made Me Do It, and You Are. If these songs don't get your heart beating, nothing out there will! This CD re-affirms JMM's status as one of the best ballad singers in the business, with the best ballad being the title track Home to You. Several other really good slow songs on the CD include Sinkin In, and Nothing Catches Jesus by Surprise. A really good medium tempo song, Your Love Lingers On, will do very well for JMM, if released as a single. Probably the best CD released by JMM since the Montgomery CD.

JMM's best album in several years. There are some great uptempos and JMM's voice has never sounded better. The standout track is the title track, "Home To You".

I bought it for the title song because I loved it. I would say I liked 75% of the songs on the CD. I will probably like the rest over time, they will grow on me.

I bought this CD because I loved the song NOTHING CATCHES JESUS BY SURPRISE! Then I found that this CD is packed full of HITS. It is nice to hear so many of his songs played on the radio, not just one or two from this CD. It shows the quality of work that goes into the CD and it reflects in his singing!

5.0 out of 5 stars It Gets Better Every Time..., July 25, 2000

Truly, this CD gets better every time I listen to it. I haven't found myself liking JMM this much since the days of his first two albums! Come to think of it, "Home to You" is his best work to date. Simple, honest, and refreshingly traditional, this album seems a true testament to what fruit a happy home life can bear in one's career. The title track shines the brightest, and even if "Nothing Catches Jesus By Surprise" doesn't make complete sense to me (yet), it's a great song nonetheless. And, hey! Is it just me, or did anyone else just now notice that great deep, raspy quality in his voice on "Your Love Lingers On?" I kid you not, this is a SOLID country album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Caught me by suprise..., February 10, 2000

Of all the songs that have been mentioned by everyone.. I don't see how you can truly leave out "Nothing Catches Jesus by Suprise" Which happens to be co-written by Waylon Jennings.. The song's lyrics are haunting and enigmatic. The more you think about them.. the more it makes you wonder what is truly being said. It gives me the impression that Waylon was writing to Jesse.. Well.. The rest of the cd is good.. but lyrically it pales in comparison to the finale. It has his traditional mixture of country-pop balladry, and uptempo rockers. And his smooth voice and delivery are not missed here.. I do reccommend this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars It deserves fifty stars! Five for each great song!!!!!, July 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Home to You (Audio CD)
This is probably John Michael Montgomery's best album yet, in terms of consistency from start to finish. The first track, "Love Made Me Do It," is a great song that speaks of how his woman's love is worth the trouble encountered in having it. The second track, "Hello L-O-V-E," is a great song that speaks of finding love again after losing it. The third track, "Home To You," is a strong and beautiful ballad celebrating coming home to your special loved one after even your worst days and feeling gracious for that person. The fourth track, "Your Love Lingers On," is a beautiful song about how a person's lost love still is in his heart and on his mind. Though I love all the tracks on this CD, my favorite song is track five, "You Are." It is a excellent and beautiful up-tempo song that says all the things that that special loved one is to them. It reminds me of my most cherished friends from high school, all of whom still mean the world to me, because they always told me "the things I love to hear." Every line in the song describes those close friends, especially the one that reads "it's obvious who's in my heart." They all are. The sixth track, "Sinkin' In," is another beautiful ballad expressing gratefulness to a loved one for allowing the fall into love to be "slow and steady" and reflecting on how good it is. The seventh track, "Holding An Amazing Love," is another song celebrating how lucky one is to be holding such an awe-striking love in his hands. The eighth track, "When Your Arms Were Around," is a song that states the regret of letting go of a loved one that is supposedly holding you back, and then regretting it when she is gone. The ninth track, "Love Is Our Business," is a neat up-tempo song comparing love to a very successful business. In the tenth track, "Nothing Catches Jesus By Surprise," the title says it all. This album is proof that John Michael Montgomery is much more than just a balladeer. I hope he continues to put out more albums this well balanced from now on. Way to go, John Michael Montgomery!!!!!!!

John Michael Montgomery's new CD is his best CD in several years. Some great songs to dance to and some wonderful ballads (the best one is the title song, "Home To You" which is exactly how I feel about my wife).
