4.0 out of 5 stars Home Again, Home Again, Jiggity, Jig, June 3, 2010
This review is from: Home To You (Mass Market Paperback)
Karen Tillman had been bilked by her conman fiancé of every dime she'd managed to save as an account in Portland, so when her grandmother told her that with a broken arm at 84 years of age that she was to old for her Victorian Home in Bramble Bay and that she was giving it to her, it came at just the right time in Karen's life.

Only back in town one day, Karen decides that she's going to turn the home into a B & B as she doesn't want to go into accounting in the small town, because she'd be in competition with her father. Then, as she's planning her future, Charlie Scott and his six-year-old son Ben come by. They had been feeding her Grandmother's cat until Karen came to town.

Karen had had a crush on Charlie back in high school, who didn't. He was that kind of guy. However back then she had been a string bean, but she's not anymore. To bad, Ben's married, she thinks, because she feels those old heart strings a tugging. Then she finds out his wife had been a reporter and had been killed in China. That made Ben a single dad and very much available.

I liked this one, but it was a little too straight forward for me, or should I say maybe the characters were all just a bit too nice. I don't know. I read it in one sitting, so that's saying something, but I just didn't feel the spark I like from a romance. I'm sure it's just a personal thing. Four Stars

5.0 out of 5 stars A Miniature Masterpiece, July 22, 2006
This review is from: Home To You (Mass Market Paperback)
I'm not one to give gushing reviews about anything. I try to wiegh the pro's and con's of everything I review and be very honest in my opinion. But, this just isn't going to happen in this review. Be prepared for endless gushing and joy.

Now, here's said review:

I originally recieved this book as a free preview to Harlequin's wonderful world. Back then (2001), it was an eHarlequin exclusive that you could only get if you signed up a free-trial of Harlequin. Frankly, I'm thrilled to see that it can now be purchased, because I honestly think that it is one of the greatest books I've ever read.

Books are something I darn near WORSHIP, and I've read a little bit of everything in my life. So, for me to say that a paperback romance novel, is one of the greatest things I've ever read, is truly saying something.

Muriel Jensen weaves a sweet, inspiring plot full of characters that are so real, I can pinpoint them in my own friends and family. Bramble Bay's old-fashioned sensibilities that make it irritatingly close-knit but charming remind me so much of my home town, it's almost mind boggling. Honestly, this book is tiny (that's the one thing wrong with it---I want more!), and the fact that it's as absorbing as it is in under 200 pages just blows my mind.

I, personally, believe it's worth every penny you'll spend on it. I'm actually going to be purchasing a second copy for myself, as well as a few extra to share with family and friends, now that I know it's for sale. It's just that good.

I've read this book somewhere between 8-12 times since I recieved it all those years ago, and I definately reccomend that every romance fan pick it up at least once. You won't regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A sweet fast read..., May 10, 2006
This review is from: Home To You (Mass Market Paperback)
Description from the back of the book:

Overachiever Karen Tillman had temporarily returned to Bramble Bay to mend a broken heart. And though her dreams had shattered, one look at her old high school crush, Charlie Scott, and she realized a new dream was possible.

A single dad with a precocious six-year-old and a thriving business, Charlie thought his life was complete. But Karen's vulnerable beauty spoke to his senses, awakening his own desires for the right woman.

Bramble Bay welcomed Karen home with open arms, as did Charlie. With the whole town rooting for them, were wedding bells just around the corner?

* I absolutely loved this book. It was a very sweet romance & a fast read. Highly recommended.
