After a commercial sales slump with their previous album, DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince to a year off from rap when they were cast into the hit show FRESH PRINCE OF BELAIR. By the end of the first season the show had become very popular so the demand for another DJ jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince album was high. Released in the summer of 1991 the album scored a hit with SUMMERTIME which is known today as the biggest hit of the summer of 91 and has been played on the radio almost every summer ever since.

The opening track I'M ALL THAT tells the story of the Fresh Prince's comeback. It's followed by the hit SUMMERTIME. Other good tracks are RING MY BELL, DOG IS A DOG, YOU SAW MY BLINKER, BOY IS SMOOTH and THE SUMMERTIME REPRISE. The rest is mainly filler that some will enjoy a lot.

In conclusion this is a very good album. I'm not much of a fan of rap but Will Smith and Jazzy Jeff are an exception as well as Kid 'n Play. This is when rap was safe and I recommend it to the whole family! It is really a fun album! Perhaps one of the best of 1991!

I hadn't listened to this CD in awhile prior to writing this review. So I went back and listened to it, and I don't know why I hadn't listed to it. It is such a good CD. Almost flawless.

The opening track, I'm All That, is one of the top tracks on the disc, and you can tell by this track that this is going to be a great CD. He raps about, well, being all that. And I believe that this disc is all that because he is all that.

If you're reading this carefully, you saw I wrote "Almost flawless." The flaw: Track six "A dog is a dog." It pretty much .... I can't listen to it for more than thirty seconds. The chorus to me is like nails down a chalkboard.

The other tracks make up for it though. They're all really good. And here's the top five in no particular order.

3. Trapped on the Dance Floor
4. Caught in the Middle (Love & Life)
5. The Things You Do

If you noticed too, I didn't include Summertime because it simply isn't one of the top tracks despite what the Grammy's say.

Okey-Dokey, wrap-up. This is Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince's best record. It's funny, it has good tracks, and it's worth your money. This is the last funny record they released because Code Red wasn't a funny CD, good, but not funny. So buy this.

(In case your curious, there's a hidden track on this CD. At least on the newer copies because I got mine a year or two ago, and I'm not sure about the old copies. It's right after track twelve, it's the version of Ring My Bell that can be heard on their Greatest Hits disc.)

Yo, this is one of the best Hip-Hop albums ever. I don't care what anyone says. Every song on this album is phat. "Summertime" is my favorite cut on here but all the songs are good. This is a must for everybody to have if your just a big Hip-Hop fan. The lyrics and beats are mad phat if you look at it from back then. If this came out 99 then the beats would still be phat and the lyrics would have been pretty good. If you don't like this album then you don't know your Hip-Hop. I think it's one of the an all time best. I think Will Smith is a good enough Rapper. But anyways, this album is good and if you ain't got it, you better go cop Homebase then aiight? Peace!

DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince's Homebase is another excellent album by this duo. This album contains the duo's most remembered hit Summertime (I said that Parent's Just don't understand was their biggest hit, but Summertime is their mist remembered hit). This album is also very good, but as the tracks go on the album does seem to lose its touch. I do like most of the tracks, but some songs like You Saw My Blinker just doesn't seem to fit with the feeling of the rest of the album. All in all this is a very good album to buy, but only if you have purchased another album first. Of all their albums, this one seems to be an "acquired taste".

Word that describes this: Smooth.

Summertime, This Boy Is Smooth, The Things That U Do, Ring My Bell, Caught In the MIddle, etc.. This is a feel-good album that you can just play over and over again, especially in the summertime. "A Dog Is A Dog" and "You Saw My Blinker" are just plain hilarious.

I'd put this just below "He's the DJ, I'm the Rapper", which is Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince's best album. "Code Red" is also a really underrated album. JJFP also manage to keep to their style during the ever changing times of hip hop, and they just keep putting out dope albums.

I have a young son and I wanted him to know what real rap was... I so had this CD on tape, yep tape and I needed it on CD, found it on AMAZON and loved it and the cd still takes me back.

It reminds me of the summers of '91 and 92. I use to listen to the song "Summertime" non-stop. It was everywhere on the radio here in Los Angeles back in the day. Remember KDAY? HaHa this album is a definite crowd-pleaser, although most of the songs on this album have the club/house sound that was popular at the time in mainstream rap back in the early '90s--and has sort of lost it's timeliness, it still is good to me. "You Saw My Blinker Bitch" is one of the funniest songs I've ever heard, and In a way it's true.

Yo dis Is Da Best Cd dat they've done together. Dis Boy Is Smooth is a jazzy track and da hole cd is just great. Da songs are tight and will raps reall smooth.

This CD is really cool and I just love the song, "Summertime"! It's great to listen to especially during the summer which is why I always hear the song being played on the radio during the summer-duh! Anyway, I think the album is a really good one and one of DJ Jazzy Jeff and Will Smith's best CD's! If you love watching "The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air", or if you love seeing Will Smith's movies, or if you love listening to his music then you will definintely love this album, "Homebase" 'cause this is when he was much younger!

I love the song "Summertime" by Fresh Prince. It's such a popular song that it should be made into a single.
