5.0 out of 5 stars Skeptics step aside!
Wonderful document of the Spin Doctors doing what they do (did) best. The sound of this live album is in-your-face as hell! 3.0 out of 5 stars Jam on it.
You already know you want this disc. Recorded before their big break-out album "Pocket Full Of Kryptonite", but released after, it's just a great long jam. A nice mix of lesser-known tracks, with a couple hits tossed in as well. This always reminds me of Blues Traveler, which is a good thing. In short, it's Spin Doctors, it's live, and it's currently used for only one...

Wonderful document of the Spin Doctors doing what they do (did) best. The sound of this live album is in-your-face as hell! Includes live versions of a few "Kryptonite" tracks like the blistering "Shinbone Alley" and "What Time is it?", and funkified, rhythmic "Refrigerator Car". The real highlights of this album, though, are the unreleased tracks included here. "Freeway of the Plains" slinks along smoothly and leads right into "Lady Kerosene", another unreleased cut. "Yo Baby" is a funk lovers dream featuring great drumming and bass playing by Aaron Comess and Mark White, respectively. The album closes with what sounds like a soundcheck called "Rosetta Stone", a beautiful, etherial song with an unforgettable chorus. If you're reading this then you're one of the few open minded people out there willing to take a step back and relish music because it's really good, despite weather or not it's hip anymore. I've had this album for years...and I still love listening to it.

Plain straight!, This album rocks!, its live and raw, a band just hitting it's stride. If you dig rock bands live, this cd is awesome!, It's that good that before you know it you are just absorbed into the bands performance and grooving on their vibe just as much as they are, if you can get a hold of this dont let it pass you by. Great to turn on and just tune in and chill or turn up loud etc, etc.
As for SD fans in general, most would already know that there is some true gems not available on studio albums, "Yo Mamas A Pajama", "Rosetta Stone", "Sweet Widow" and "Freeway of the planes", which is enough reason to buy it alone, not much else can be said, but the Spin Doctors HG, rocks!!

5.0 out of 5 stars In A Word: OUTSTANDING., November 8, 1999
This review is from: Homebelly Groove (Audio CD)
Truly, an album no Spin Doctors fan should be without. The Doctors are know for trasmitting a lot of energy with their songs (for the most part), and they do this even better live. The best songs include the fast, intense Lady Keronsene, the funky Yo Baby, the goofy but fun as hell Yo Mama's a Pajama, the live versions of Little Miss Can't Be Wrong and Shinbone Alley and Refrigerator Car, and the beautiful and mesmerising Sweet Widow and Rosetta Stone. Also this album includes something that the music world is sorely lacking in---great bass solos. Mark White lays down sound awesome ones on Shinbone Alley and Sweet Widow, but ESPECIALLY Refigerator Car.

I honestly don't have a single complaint with this album. Like the earlier reviewer, I've had my copy for years and still listen to it. It's so good, that when you listen to it, you can almost see that lime green vibe with the blue edges.

This album is by far the quinessential Spin Doctors album. LIVE the way they were meant to be. If you had to own one SD album it should be this one. Possibly one of the best albums ever? (i'm sure that's just my opinion.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Sound Mix Is Excellent, February 28, 2011
This review is from: Homebelly Groove (Audio CD)
Finally... I picked a very good CD. This makes up for a lot of misses. This set Rocks. Whomever was mixing this and or also the acoustics at Wetlands (I suppose), is as perfect as anything I have ever heard for a live set. If I play this anywhere people are looking for the band thinking it is live. You can even do it with a crumby stereo, which I own. I would think Audiophiles would love this CD. It is the mark that others try to hit mixing live sets (in my opinion). Kudos to whom ever it was. May you get a lot of live gigs to mix.

A great, live recording of a good jam band before they fell victim to MTV.

One of those albums with a rare alchemy of great live jams by a really tight band at its peak, recorded and produced with superb sound quality.

The music is mostly "jamband with attitude", great for working out, car washes, etc. Really gets me going.

This review is from: Homebelly Groove (Audio CD)
This CD capture a great band during their heyday. If your a SD fan you should pick it up. If your not a big fan, this cd could change your mind. I have listened to it many times over and over. The recording quality is great and the cd is jam packed full of the energy of a live show.
