5.0 out of 5 stars My first book by Rochelle Alers
I read this book over Chritmas break last year and I have become a big fan of her work. I mean at first I didn't know that Tyler Cole was apart of a whole family who had stories about their lives too.

I read this book over Chritmas break last year and I have become a big fan of her work. I mean at first I didn't know that Tyler Cole was apart of a whole family who had stories about their lives too.
Tyler Cole is a doctor, 41, and Dana Nichols, 33, came back to Mississippi to find out what really happen to her parents twenty-three years ago. The book is a love story mixed in with a mysetry. Tyler knew that he wanted Dana for her wife. He just had to convince her of that. And that's what he did. She met him and in two weeks they were engaged.
Within six weeks, he had met, bedded, wedded, and impregnated Dana with a little boy later named after Tyler's father, Martin. Now that's the kind of man I like.
I haven't gotten around to reading the whole Hideaway series, but I guess that means I have something to look forward too. Good job on HOMECOMING.

4.0 out of 5 stars Homecoming, October 23, 2002
This review is from: Homecoming (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
Rochelle Alers latest book features Dana Nichols an Investigating reporter and Tyler Cole a research OB/GYN. Dana has come back to Hillsboro, MS to bury her last family member and also to try to clear her father's name in the murder/suicide of her mother. What she didn't plan is finding and falling in love with Hillsboro's sexy new doctor Tyler Cole.

Tyler was ask by the Surgeon General to relocate to Hillsboro and do a study on infant mortality. When he arrives there he falls in love with the small country town and builds a house. When he had the house design he just wanted to make sure there was enought room for when his family comes to visit. He never thought that he would need the space for his future wife and children. Being dedicated doctor he always considered himself married to his work. But when he rescues Dana, he is instantly attracted to her beauty and determination.

You will be drawn into this story from the Prolugue and not be able to put the book down until you are finished. I only have two things that I didn't like and they were: the climax seemed rushed at the end. To the point were you think you missed something and there were some typing errors that a proofreader should have caught. But once you get over that this was another excellent book by Ms Alers. It was nice to be brought up to date with the other family members from her previous books.

I LOVED THIS BOOK.THE AUTHOR DID A WONDERFUL JOB WITH THE CHARACTERS.AS ALWAYS! MS.ALERS CONTINUES TO SHINE. I HAVE NEVER READ A BOOK OF HERS THAT WASN'T INTERESTING AND OR KEPT MY ATTENTION UNTIL THE VERY END. OTHER WRITERS CAN LEARN FROM HER.I HOPE THAT SHE CONTINUES TO WRITE ABOUT THE LEGACY. I HATE TO SEE IT GO.TO THE PEOPLE WHO ARE UPSET THAT I DIDN'T GO INTO DETAIL. I AM TRULY SORRY!IF I START TALKING ABOUT THE CHARACTERS I WILL GIVE THE BOOK AWAY. I WILL SAY THIS SOME OF HER OLD BOOKS (NO COMPROMISE, JUST BEFOR DAWN, AND HER BOOKS WITHIN THE HIDEAWAY SERIES ARE BETTER. I JUST REALLY STARTED READING THESE TYPES OF BOOKS.) I WOULD START IN ORDER FOR A BETTER EFFECT! THANK YOU AND HAVE A NICE DAY.

4.0 out of 5 stars One of My Favorite Families, November 5, 2002

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Homecoming (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
Tyler Simmons Cole decided not to go into the Family Business, but instead he wanted to go into Medicine. OB/GYN was his field of choice. He was involved in a program that targeted areas where infant low birth weight was increasing. He wanted to give women who would not otherwise receive good pre-natal and post-natal care a chance to become mothers of healthy babies. This assignment took him to a small town called Hillsboro, Mississippi.

Tyler was not much on gossip, but the town's doctor killing his wife and then later himself. The doctor's daughter was in the house when he killed his wife. Tyler meets the infamous doctor's daughter as he rescues her from the town's known beggar. Tyler is instantly attracted to Dana.

Dana Nichols is an investigative report who came back to Hillsboro to bury her dear grandmother. She also wanted to put to rest the circumstances around her parents deaths. Dana an exact replica of her beautiful mother shocked some of the who hadn't seen her since her since she was a child.

Dana is taken by Tyler but is hesitant because of her past relationship. She didn't want to get involved with anyone because she was only going to be in Hillboro four months. Tyler had something else in mind for Dana.

I don't want to give everything away, but I do want to end my review with this:

I think Dana's fear of abandonment is evident in this story and Tyler was just the person to reassure her he wasn't going anywhere. He would protect her with his own life.

It is always good to reunite with family and friends. I hate we didn't get to see Matthew and Eve Sterling.

Ms. Alers is one of my ultimate favorite authors. I love the way she tells a story. She always, always, always references a scripture in her stories as does my other favorite author Brenda Jackson. They both are always on the mark with their scriptures and I love them for that.

The last installment for this family and friends saga is RENEGADE and from what I'm hearing this series will go out with a bang!

5.0 out of 5 stars Whatta Way To Return Home, April 11, 2006

This review is from: Homecoming (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
Tyler Cole is an OBGYN living in Hillsboro heading up a clinic.

Dana Nichols is home to bury the last of her family and investigate the murder/suicide of her parents, hoping to clear her family name.

What they don't expect to find is a love that will last a lifetime.

Dana and Tyler were so incredibly good together. Reading it reminded me so much of the story between Martin and Parris in the Hideaway novel. Tyler is the epitome of a Cole male: Tall, dark, insanely handsome, and incredibly intelligent. Honestly, the first day Dana met him,she knew she didn't stand a chance. Tyler became the key to unlocking her heart and healing the wounds she's suffered from years of loneliness. In a matter of 6 weeks they courted, slept together, married, and became pregnant...these Cole men move fast.

My only problem was that I didn't think there was really enough about Dana's investigation. But it didn't bother me too much b/c I loved reading about Tyler and Dana anyway.

Rochelle Alers is such a wonderful author and I've enjoyed the Hideaway series very much. It's wonderful to have an author that writes about the importance of family and love. It's also great to see an African-American family that is so successful and so filled with unconditional love for one another. Take a bow,Ms. Alers b/c you've earned it.

I expected a stronger drama for the son of Martin and Parris Cole

4.0 out of 5 stars Let's Go!, September 30, 2005
This review is from: Homecoming (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
Rochelle writes the story of deception, suicide, murder, trust, and arson. Mrs. Alers introduce you to the Cole who is consider everyone obstetrician in the Cole family as he embarks on the idea of helping the women of Hillsboro to continue to have healthy babies there's nothing that can deter him from his dream but when he meets Dana Nicolas he endures the meaning of attraction she attempts to keep him away from her because of the rumor that ran around her family but Tyler doesn't believe in listening to gossip and he goes after what he considers what he wants. Dana has try to do everything to only find her mother's murder and to return to her home in New York but Tyler has something else in mind. With her being the only Sutton-Nicolas of Hillsboro left she is determine to clear her father's name but as the truth comes to Dana finds herself falling in love with Tyler and Tyler finds himself having to deal with Dana's inquisitive investigation that could lead to her death.

Rochelle shows how hard the men of the Cole family love and how much they will go through to protect those that they love. The novel is an excellent read but many suggest don't start it without blocking out two to three hours to complete in one sitting because it's a hook and sync type book once you start it you want to finish it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, April 23, 2003

Another EXCELLENT book by Ms. Alers. This books picks up with the next generation of the Cole men. I loved the interactions, the seductions betwen the characters. The mysterious death of Dana's father, the treatment of her mother left a void in her life. But Tyler came along and filled it with his love.
Wonderful book. This is worth reading!! If you can, get all of the legacy and hideaway series.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ummm the timeline is really messed up., February 18, 2010
This review is from: Homecoming (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
I read this book later then Stranger in my Arms and I noticed that Ms. Alers timeline is all wrong. In this book. Michael and Jolene had their daughter but in Stanger in my Arms she's just being born. Weird I give this book 3 stars because its was too predictable like the rest of her books. I already knew the guy was rich and super fine. I already knew the female he ended up with was going to be amazingly gorgous and head-strong. Oh yea I also knew she was going to be pregnant with his kid. When it was going to happen in the book I didn't know but I knew it was going to happen eventually. I've noticed that her storylines are in a way repeating themselves. Don't get me wrong they're great reads but come on be alittle more realistic. Everybody in these books are just too.... Perfect and lovey dovey. I love lovey dovey books but not when its laid on so thick.

This review is from: Homecoming (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
The chemistry between Tyler and Dana was likable but I felt there could have been more "fire". Once I really got into the novel, it was over. The storyline had great potential but in the end it was just o.k.
