4.0 out of 5 stars Down Home in Fortworth - Texas Style
As a regular fan of the Gaither's I recently recevied a collection of the Homecoming series from a friend. During, this, our second winter in Michigan the "Homecoming Frieds" became our friends as we invited them into our home each evening. After viewing our "collection," I begin adding others.

3.0 out of 5 stars Go Texas!
Well, I am sure that it is a great DVD for those who like the zest and bigness of it all, I intend to keep it. Though I like Texas and its people, (especially my gransons), this DVD was just a bit big for me.

Why did I buy it? I was actually looking for a song, and bought four DVDs before I found it. So! Lucky me, I get to expand my borders of appreciation. I...

As a regular fan of the Gaither's I recently recevied a collection of the Homecoming series from a friend. During, this, our second winter in Michigan the "Homecoming Frieds" became our friends as we invited them into our home each evening. After viewing our "collection," I begin adding others.

I enjoyed the spirit of celebration with tapping toes and clapping hands of the participants in "Homecoming Texas Style." My favorite numbers include: I Bowed on My Knees and Cried Holy," "What a Savior,"

"I'm on My Way to Heaven," and "No One Ever Cared For Me Like Jesus."

A refreshing reminder of the power and impact of Gosepl Music.

5.0 out of 5 stars As usual, fun, upbeat, solemn, inspirational and entertaining!, October 26, 2009
This review is from: Homecoming Texas Style (DVD)
The Homecoming group is in Fort Worth Texas, 1996 with toe tapping, joyous gospel music Texas style. If you have not seen the Gaither Concert Series, you are in for a special treat, if you love the music of gospel. These productions are always fun to watch, inspirational to listen and great sing-a-long. You can always expect to hear some comedy, usually by Mark Lowry. The Stamps Quartet are featured, and also Eva Mae LeFevre.

The Happy Goodmans sing "I Hold a Clear Title to a Mansion", and a very popular one of theirs, "I Wouldn't Take Nothing For My Journey Now."

What is here, my favorite by the Gaither Vocal Band, "Yes, I Know" and the joyful "I'm Saved and I Know That I Am." Cynthia Clawson does "Jesus, Hold My Hand." Football's Terry Bradshaw joins Jake Hess and J.D. Sumner for "That's Enough."

Some other songs include: "Everybody Will Be Happy Over There", "Give The World a Smile", "Just A Little While", "Gone". Buddy Greene performes with his harmonica "Life's Railway To Heaven". If you don't know this song, there are several good versions with the lyrics that are not here.

Someone to take notice is Nancy Harmon doing a rousing "Blood Bought Church". She is one to remember, but not seen too often.

"To Me It's So Wonderful", "Look What The Lord Has Done", "Happy Rhythm"; "The Prettiest Flowers Will Be Blooming", "Now I Have Everything"; "What A Savior", "I'll Walk Dem Golden Stairs", "I'm On My Way to Heaven", "All People That on Earth Do Dwell", "No One Ever Cared For Me Like Jesus", "Written in Red", "Gentle Shepherd" and "I Bowed on My Knees and Cried Holy".

As usual, this is fun, and it is always nice to see the regulars, plus the guests. Try Atlanta Homecoming and for some historic insight to the elder singers, Turn Your Radio On .
