Looking for a read that warms your heart, makes you smile a little, sigh a little, and feel more than a little good about the goodness that can be found in people? Then please, come to Thunder Point and read THE HOMECOMING. Robyn Carr is back in top form once again in this fifth installment in the THUNDER POINT series, which keeps us in touch with all of the characters we've come to care so much for in this cozy Oregon coast town. At the forefront this time are Seth Sileski, a hometown boy who left as a teenage football star with a dream and a big future which was destroyed by a life-changing accident, and Iris McKinley, his childhood next-door neighbor and former best friend, who harbors a secret heartbreak which Sean caused, but of which he is unaware. Seth returns to replace Mac McCain, newly promoted to Coquille, as deputy sheriff-in-charge of Thunder Point. Action and subplots develop on multiple fronts for both Seth and Iris: personal, professional, and community, making this an entertaining, heartwarming, romantic, and dramatic read. Reading a Robyn Carr book is like coming home on a cold, rainy night to a home warmed by the fireplace, a comfy chair, and a steaming cup of hot cocoa (insert contented sigh here). Miss Carr is my number one feel-good read.

THUNDER POINT SERIES READING ORDER (this series is best read in order):

2. The Newcomer - Deputy Sheriff Mac McCain & waitress Gina James
3. The Hero - coach Spencer Lawson & single mom Devon McAllister

For those of you familiar with Robyn Carr and the way she breathes life into her characters and draws her readers in to the wonderful little town of Thunder Point, Oregon, The Homecoming will be a welcome return visit where romance is discovered by a couple who have been friends forever with one never realizing that love was there all the time. We get to catch up with the characters we have met in previous books in the series as well as add the new ones which helps to make richer an already interesting town full of interesting people.

Seth Sileski has returned to his hometown, older and wiser and ready to make some positive changes in his personal life as well as his town by taking over the Sheriff's office in Thunder Point. And one of his top priorities is to reconnect with the best friend of his youth, Iris McKinley. Iris isn't at all sure how she feels about Seth being back in town since he is responsible for her first, last and only broken heart and what's worse is he doesn't even realize what he did. What he thinks of as a simple misunderstanding about prom in reality was a whole lot more than that and even after all these years, Iris is determined never to let Seth have that kind of power to hurt her again. But Seth is as handsome and formidable as ever and once he learns the truth about the past, he is even more determined than ever to find out how he really feels about Iris and if it's possible to get past the hurt he unknowingly caused her and to see if there is any chance that these feelings he has always had for Iris could be love.

Iris and Seth are both very appealing characters. The attraction between them is obvious and they are both very dedicated to making sure that things in Thunder Point, especially the youth are well taken care of and protected.

I really don't understand where all these amazing reviews are coming from! I bought into this series (Thunder Point) because I liked the Virgin River series, however, this series keeps getting more boring as new books and stories get added to it. In this book, the author, keeps repeating the story of Seth's accident and Iris misfortunes over and over, with no new point of view or more details. I found myself skipping paragraphs many times and feeling not only that I didn't miss anything but that I couldnt wait for the book to become more interesting but it never happened. Spoiler Alert - Seth keeps repeating to everyone that that one of the most important reasons that he came back for is to try to get a better relationship with his father, however there is not one scene where they are brought together to discuss why is his father really upset about it. Iris keeps complaining that she needs to add a new counselor to her team and try to, several times, to convince Troy to go back to school to get his degree and become one. They, and I mean several characters and Mostly Iris, keep praying what a great teacher and how invested in his students he is but how and why he doesn't want to do that. Again there is a lot of repetition in this book and they are very simple story lines that didn't need to be constantly reminded throughout the book. Gina is still the waitress in the diner and she has her degree in counseling but it never occurs to Iris to offer the position to her, what is it with that? There is no depth to the characters and the love story not only is flat and simplistic but it doesn't feel like there is a great passion from Seth, he just wants his best friend back. the author tackles issues that we deal in society on a daily basis, however she always find a very rushed and clean tidy way to close it for a happy ending, which it then makes it unrealistic and forced. I will not recommend this book and I am not looking forward to any more of them. Ms Carr lost me in this one.
