5.0 out of 5 stars Ahh, It feels so good.
Homedics produces quality massage products and this little item is no exception. If you have lower back pain, then this affordable option is well worth the price. I have a condition know as Isthmic Spondylolysis/Spondylolisthesis in L5-S1 region of my lower back/spine. The BKK-200 does an excellent job providing pain relief. I'm not sure why the other reviewer...

3.0 out of 5 stars Just ok, could be better...
After using this massager for a couple weeks, i wanted to love it more than i do.

For sitting in a chair and only getting a lumbar massage, it works just great. I feel a lot more relaxed and it relieves some of the aching lower back pains of pregnancy. The massaging heads feel really really good and the heat is pretty good also once it warms up. It is also...

I'm not sure why the other reviewer encountered such difficulties. I can only surmise they didn't fully understand how to use it. The instructions are inexplicably lacking any explanation of where or how to use it. Here are the 4 simple steps (of which, only the first 2 are included in Homedics 'Instructions'): Plug it in, turn it on, place in on a chair (or bed), sit back and enjoy the pleasures of the BKK-200. The nimble kneading of the finger like rollers are awesome. For the price, you can't beat it. BedBathBeyond is selling at 1/2 price right now ($20).

4.0 out of 5 stars Works great!, January 6, 2010
This review is from: Homedics BKK-200 Shiatsu Lumbar Massager (Health and Beauty)
Just got this from Bed Bath & Beyond as well (don't forget your 20% coupons!) and have been using it the past few days. It's nice and forces me to sit up straight rather than slouch. Not sure what the first reviewer is talking about but everything is good for me. The heat works well too. In fact, I was using it early this morning as I had to do some work from home - it was awesome.

My only complaints are:
1) It can get a *bit* irritating at times and I feel like I may need to eventually put a towel or more padding in between my back and the unit.
2) I don't know if this is meant to be left in the chair, even though I have, because it usually falls over. Wish it at least had a velcro band/strap to tie down (it actually has a velcro strap but that's only for the power cord).

Otherwise, this is a great unit! Not sure if it's supposed to be used in a lying position (or on other furniture) but I'm sure it could work. Just be careful that you don't hurt yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars works great, January 1, 2010
This review is from: Homedics BKK-200 Shiatsu Lumbar Massager (Health and Beauty)
This shiatsu massager works great for me. It's the same shape as the lumbar pads used for officechairs but has the added bonus of shiatsu massage AND heat (I don't know what went wrong for the first reviewer but the heat works and the shape hits my back just fine). It has the same shiatsu quality as the full back massagers from Homedics but lacks the bells and whistles because of its size and lower price. I like it because I am always leaning over my laptop doing work and this helps get the kinks out.

4.0 out of 5 stars I Can Go To Parties Again, December 17, 2010
By
Trena (Washington, DC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Homedics BKK-200 Shiatsu Lumbar Massager (Health and Beauty)
I feel like I could do an infomercial about this massager. "How much would you pay to end your back pain? $1000? $5000? What if I told you that you could cure your back pain for under $40!" OK, "cure" is an exaggeration, but hey, this is an infomercial.

While cure is not the right word, it has significantly alleviated my low back pain to the point where it no longer limits my life. I sometimes have symptoms of sciatica, but I think my main problem is sacroiliac muscle pain/inflammation. I am relatively young (mid-30s), relatively thin (BMI around 21), and very fit, and have not been able to get any doctors to take my back pain seriously because of that and therefore it just builds and builds. I have constant, low level back pain (3 or 4 on the pain scale pain). When the pain flairs up, it is so bad that it knocks out my breath and stops me in my tracks for a few seconds. And even when the pain is not ascendant, I cannot stand for more than 20 minutes without debilitating agony that lasts for several days afterward (walking and running are fine, thank goodness). I dread going to parties because I know I'm going to have to stand for hours and often end up leaving early, and by the end of a vacation my sightseeing ability is limited.

Over Thanksgiving I tried one of the shiatsu style massagers and knew I had to have one. I tried the 200 series full back massager, which does not allow you to stop the mechanism in one spot--a feature I need. I couldn't find the 300 series full back massager in person and didn't want to wait while ordering it online, so I purchased the shiatsu lumbar massager.

I use it every night before falling asleep. I'm sure you're not supposed to do this, but I put it down on my bed and lay on top of it. I concentrate it on one gaspingly painful spot until the pain in that spot becomes bearable and then shift to the next spot. For the first 6 or 7 days of using it, my lower back was tender to the touch because it was breaking up knots that have been *years* in the making. Now (after two weeks) it is almost a challenge to find painful spots to massage.

Four days after buying it, I went to a party where I stood for 3 hours. In the past, this would have been so painful that I cannot even describe it. After just four days of using it, my back was certainly tired and a little achey and I had to stand in kind of a contorted way (leaning forward at the hips) to take pressure off, but I wasn't in real pain and I didn't feel it the next day. I cannot describe to you how elated I was. As it is the holiday season, I have since attended (after more uses of the massager) 3 more parties where I stood for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours each with NO pain and NO contortion. Truly, this is a breakthrough.

Negatives: -The mechanism only rotates one way and it would be nice to be able to reverse the direction for a different approach to the painful spots.
-The mesh cover grates painfully against the skin and even through lightweight clothes, but heavier clothes or a towel dull the action a bit.

Not a negative for this product per se, but I haven't found a way to make this useful for neck and shoulder massage so I think I will eventually buy the 300 series full back massager after all.

If you have low back pain with spasming muscles, you NEED one of these now. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200. Just start changing your life.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Prefer SP-10HD more than BKK-200, January 16, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Homedics BKK-200 Shiatsu Lumbar Massager (Health and Beauty)
Hello Every one ..
I tried both SP-10HD and BKK-200 both are great and Excellent ..

SP-10HD seems to be more Soft pillow and you can feel the massage more than BKK-200 because the material in BKK-200 is more solid that only make you feel the massage on the center of the pillow ..

so if you like a really deep massage I prefer SP-10HD ..
although BKK-200 is a Great choice ..

5.0 out of 5 stars Already purchased three of these, January 13, 2011

The first time I purchased this massager, it was for my aunt for Christmas, and my aunt loved it. Then my cousin tried it, and she immediately asked me to order a second one for her. This massager works pretty good for its price. Now I already purchased a third massager, this time, for my parents. I'm very satisfied with this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delighted with my purchase!, April 22, 2010

This review is from: Homedics BKK-200 Shiatsu Lumbar Massager (Health and Beauty)
I purchased the lumbar massager while suffering from painful arthritis in my lower back. The heat and massage have really helped a lot and it's also quite nice on a chilly night just to keep my back warm while I read or watch TV. The massage from this pillow is more like a massage than any others I have tried. Other pillow just 'vibrate.' You have to try it to believe it. Very happy with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good quality, February 22, 2011

My friends, as well as myself, have been enjoying this massager very much. I feel the heat is just right and the massage part isn't too 'pointy' as some are; being more rounded does a better job. I'm use it every night.

4.0 out of 5 stars Homedics shiatsu lumbar massager, January 18, 2011

Bought two shiatsus..one Sharper Image, this Homedics one. The control remote on cord of Sharper Image makes it easier use; a bit more versatile than the Homedics one. This homedics one is milder, good if you're looking for "not too hard" rotation of the massaging rollers.

This review is from: Homedics BKK-200 Shiatsu Lumbar Massager (Health and Beauty)
This is the best massager that I have found....I have tried so many. What a great price...$25 off. I just ordered a second unit so I can stack and do both lower and upper back at same time. My computer chair will now be my best friend. Only down side is that it could become addicting. Highly recommend.
