Features I like:

*sound options! I can fall asleep or wake up to nature sounds, my iPod, radio, or alarm.

*size and shape -- smaller, more stylish than the clunky, traditional rectangular clock radios, and so it fits nicely on my small nightstand

*iPod docking station can be modified with the various inserts included to accommodate any type of iPod.

*3 settings for the back lighting on the time -- bright, slightly less bright, and "off" -- a big plus for those who don't like the glare of the clock radio in the middle of the night. I use the "off" setting for the weekends . . . then I know that I really don't have to get up! Yaayy!

Only problem with the "off" setting is that you can only see the time in a light room, not in a dark room. I don't like the light, but I also am one of those people who needs to glance at the time during the night. I have always remedied the problem of excessive glare by draping a small piece of sheer colored fabric across the front of any clock radio that I've ever owned . . . softens the light but I can still see the time.

The one feature I don't like:

* mirror-like finish shows every dang fingerprint and smudge! A little artistry is required when wiping clean or you will inadvertently click on the buttons and change your settings.

All in all, not a bad clock radio! If they could just tweak it a bit (like making a dimmer setting that would be genuinely dim but still show the time in a dark room, and losing the smudge-prone finish) it might be a near perfect product.

This is a great clock radio/iPod dock. It works great, and the sound quality is amazing. At first I thought mine didnt come with the 3rd generation ipod nano dock adapter, but it was already in the clock radio. It is very easy to use, and works great. It also looks very nice. Im glad I purchased this iPod dock. I couldnt believe how good the sound quality is. Also, the light on the clock is very bright, but is has 3 settings. Bright, Brighter, and off. It also has 2 alarms, and you can wake up to either nature sounds, radio, buzzer, or your iPod.

Short and plain, Homedics produces great alarm clocks, but this won't charge a 4th generation IPod Nano.

The Homedics (or HMDX, as the company seems to be re-labeling itself) Speaker Dock offers all the options you'll need in an alarm clock: multiple sound input/outputs; a long, easy-to-find snooze bar; a visible digital display; intuitive set-up; a sleep timer; accessible controls: and a sleek design. You can use this unit to play or wake up to your iPod, AM or FM stations, or "white noise" nature sounds. The nature sounds (ocean, rain, forest, etc.) are perfect for insomniacs who need to listen to restful sounds before they can fall asleep, but they also work well to wake you peacefully, without the jarring electronic noise of the regular alarm.

The clock radio is oval shaped: 8.5" wide x 5.5 " deep x 3.5 " high. The display may be too bright for some, especially since you cannot dim it, but I got used to it right away. If you need your bedroom to be pitch dark, however, you might want to look into another brand.

This sturdy clock radio offers excellent value because of its relatively low cost and high number of features. Even people who don't own an iPod may find that this clock radio is exactly what they want. Recommended as a gift for everyone, from middle schoolers through senior citizens.

I love this radio! The nature sounds are so realistic and my partner and I love waking up to the ocean and the babbling brook. I love the look of it but we do wish it had more options for the dimmer. It's basically either very bright or off. But that's really the only negative thing I can say about it. I would buy another one for sure!

I bought this alarm clock to replace the one that I had been using for over 10 years. I was looking for one that would allow me to dock my Ipod as all my music is on there and when Amazon.com had this one on sale during a gold box special I decided to get it to try it out. To start out this unit has a very sleek design and looks great on our nightstand. The sound is very good as well and it has lots of Nature sounds to choose from for those who like a variety. The radio dialed right into a station and as it is digital it makes it very easy to get the exact channel you want. It also features a nap option which allows you to set an alarm in 5,10,15,30 or 60 min in the future to wake you so you don't have to change your pre-set alarms just to take a nap. The LCD display is nice but very bright. It does have three settings of bright, dimmer (still bright in a pitch dark room) and Off. If you can get use to the light than it's not bad or you can just turn off the light but you will not be able to see the time very well but it is just a one button touch to cycle through the light settings.

Great dock for the iPod. Great sound souther. But every couple of days the clock resets to midnight. This could happen in the middle of the night (so the alarm will never go off) or in the middle of the day. I sent one of these back to the manufacturer and they replaced it. But I am having the same problems with the new one. I bought the original here thru the gold box.
Nice idea... but if the clock is important to you- don't buy it.

My fiancee' had a really old alarm clock so I purchased this item to give her options to wake up to. She still chooses to wake up to the radio, but she loves to plug her ipod nano in and take it around the house while she's doing chores. It has back up batteries so she's able to unplug it and move it to any location, plug it back in and not have to reset the time. The nature sounds are awesome, however if you listen close you can tell its a loop of a smaller sound file. The display is very easy to read but only with the back light on, which at night is too bright for my fiancee' even on the dimmest setting. Another downfall mentioned in earlier reviews is that it doesn't charge the ipod nano I'm not sure what generation nano my fiancee' has but its the one that doesn't charge using this alarm clock. Overall the look is great, and the features are great. Even if you have an Ipod Nano that is the same generation nano that we have, i'd still purchase this as long as you don't mind the fact that it won't charge it (for my fiancee' it meant she would never use the Ipod setting on the alarm).

Great product. ALthough we had a little trouble getting the touch to fit to charge, we realized that if you took out the little black piece all Ipods fit better.

The clock, radio and ipod doc station all work very well. I also like the sleek look of the item. The only criticism I have is that the light for the clock does not dim very much. It REALLY lights up the room (even on dimmer mode). If it doesn't bother you to have a well lit room, then go ahead and buy it. As for me, I put a dry washcloth over it at night!
