This review is from: Homedics HMP-TRCL Temp-Rite 4 Lb. Density Classic Pillow with CoolCore Ventilated Foam, Outlast Smart Fabric Technology and Jacquard Cover, 22" x 16" x 5" (Health and Beauty)
I recently realized that I was having back and neck pain due to my pillow. I'm in my late 20s, and have never had this problem before. I've gone thru a lot of pillows in the past 6 months, and unfortunately, I'm still hunting for the perfect one. I started out trying traditional pillows from target for side sleepers/back sleepers and just getting a new one every 2 months or so when it got too squished down for me.
On initial inspection, the jacquard cover on this is very nice and seems to protect the pillow well. This pillow is quite heavy and dense -- I actually wondered if I was kidding myself using it as a pillow. I picked this one at Linens'n'Things because I liked the price(with a 20% off coupon of course) and also noticed the "coolcore ventilated foam" and I can sometimes become bothered if my pillow gets too hot. Usually my first night with a new pillow is extremely uncomfortable, with this one, it was absolutely heaven. I woke up refreshed because I think my neck/head finally had the support it wanted. So for a little while(2 months), it was really awesome. One thing I will mention, the first few nights the pillow lets off a pretty crappy, chemically smell. It was somewhere in the manual or box I think, because I was either told or read there that the smell goes away after the first few days. But it was pretty gross, as I can be sensitive to smells. Also, now I've noticed I wake up 4 or 5 times a night to flip the pillow. When it becomes warm with your body heat, the memory foam does squish down after awhile, and that makes the neck support go away. it wakes me up and when I get it over to the cool side, its a sigh of happiness. But flipping such a heavy pillow multiple times a night is not ideal. I really should have gotten a "contour" memory foam, so that will probably be my next one to try. My last con is sometimes my head feels trapped. If you move around a good deal while sleeping, this might not be comfortable. It is memory foam, so it contours to your head, leaving the rest of it higher, harder and cool. So when you go to move slightly, your head rolls back into the original, warmed up position that is currently indented into the pillow. I actually wake up and have to move to the very end from the middle of the pillow so that I don't roll. So all in all, it really depends what type of sleeper you are. I'm a light sleeper who moves a lot..if you're dead to the world while asleep, who looks like a statue and never moves, this very well may be the pillow for you!
