Wish it could be less than 1 star,

I bought this scale in a store, came home read the reviews before I tried it out and thought ugh, now I have to go back to the store. Although I didn't believe it could be off by so much like one other review pointed out, but it was. Depending upon where I placed the scale (all level, hard floors, not carpets/rugs) I had different weights between the lowest and the highest I'd say it was a 15lb (6.8Kg/1.07stone) window. The box said "Accurate within .2lbs" haha.

This scale may serve some purpose, but it is absolutely useless as a human weight measuring device. It gives readings that vary more that twenty pounds depending on where you stand on the scale. I also find the reading changes based on the ambient temperature. If I turn on the AC, this scale thinks I lost 15 pounds in 10 minutes.

Do not buy,
This review is from: Homedics SC-405 Electronic Digital Scale with 1.3LCD Display, Silver (Health and Beauty)
I did not purchase this scale from Amazon but a local store. I liked the look and the price wasn't bad. Like other reviews, scale was not accurate all the time. It varied between ~5-10 lbs. However, my batteries did last around year, but when I replaced them, the scale never worked again. I emailed the company, but never received a response. I gave it 1 star because I could not give less than that. Based on the fact the scale would not work after I replaced the batteries, it wasn't that good a price. I will never purchase another Homedics product again.

The worst product I have ever owned,
This review is from: Homedics SC-405 Electronic Digital Scale with 1.3LCD Display, Silver (Health and Beauty)
This product worked like a charm for the first 6 weeks of use, but now, less than 60 days later, it is throwing all kinds of error messages and improperly reading weight. Homedics support insists on me shipping to them, something that will most likely ending up taking months and costing me about the same as a new scale. Save yourself frustration and buy something else, don't ignore the reviews like I did.

Save your money,
This review is from: Homedics SC-405 Electronic Digital Scale with 1.3LCD Display, Silver (Health and Beauty)
I purchased this scale and while it looks very nice, its performance is very poor. First, it does not measure weight accurately. It shows different weights over a period of 10 minutes, for example. Second, it sometimes does not work at all but has changing numbers. At one point the difference between the first and the second measurement showed difference of 89 lbs. over a 5 minutes period. This product is substandard, and it appears that the problem is systemic and not in my scale.

Terrible scale, don't waste your money,
This review is from: Homedics SC-405 Electronic Digital Scale with 1.3LCD Display, Silver (Health and Beauty)
Purchased this scale about 9 months ago. I compared it with an accurate 2nd scale I own and it compared perfectly. The SC 405 worked for about 8 months. At first I thought it was the batteries and purchased a new set. The scale went from bad to worse! Tried every which way to ensure the batteries fitted properly but to no avail. The weight varied from 43 lbs to 293 lbs!! Proper weight should have been around 154 lbs!! At 43 lbs I knew I could eat more Chex Mix and chocolate but at 293 lbs, I figured I best toss out the Chex Mix and chocolate! Stepped back on my 2nd scale and whew back to 154 lbs. Bottom line, don't waste your money on the Hometics scale. Stick with Taylor brand scales!

Don't Buy This Scale!,
This review is from: Homedics SC-405 Electronic Digital Scale with 1.3LCD Display, Silver (Health and Beauty)
This scale worked fairly consistently for about the first three months. Then all of a sudden it started jumping all over the place, +/- 100+ lbs. I tried reinitializing the scale and without any weight on it, it reported over 100lbs. Then it didn't shut itself off, and killed the battery. This scale is definately not worth buying.

I had an older model Homedics glass scale that had cheap plastic legs that broke after a couple of years ($70+ at JCPenny with $50 gift card for X-mas). This SC-405 scale was sent to replace it, but keep in mind that to qualify for the LIFETIME WARRANTY, you have to ship them the scales, and these scales aren't light, so you're looking to spend around $8-14 to ship. 3 months and 6 days later, the new scale SC-405 stopped working right. It was a little cooler in the house 70 degrees at eye level, maybe 62 or so on the ground. The scale would not zero and repeated error messages after the weight fluctuated up 60 lbs and down 40 lbs. I warmed the scale up lightly and it still would not work. It's nice to have the glass scales, but you need something that works, not just something that looks pretty. Wal-Mart would've gotten me a cheap working scale just for the price of shipping. If HoMedics will not reimburse the cost of shipping the scale, the only choice I have is to buy a new one and wait until they upgrade their scales to file for lifetime warranty and hope the Chinese schoolgirls have had some proper college training. No offense to Chinese people, but I hope to offend the designers of this product.
