Inaccurate product lousy Homedics Support., October 9, 2008
This review is from: Homedics SC-535 LCD 350 lb/160 kg Capacity Bath Scale Measures Body Water and Muscle Mass (Health and Beauty)
This product has a nice user interface and seems well built. I bought it, however, after reading several other issues of inaccuracy from other buyers of this and other similar Homedics models. The scale seemed to give me good data for about two weeks.
The body fat reading was a little low, I thought, but it was consistent and useful as long as there was directional accuracy.
However, this morning my body fat suddenly doubled from 15.5% to 30.1%. When I called Homedics support my first contact was courteous and helpful, giving me a reset procedure that is not in the user manual.
When followed that procedure and it did not improve the readings, I called back and was connected with a very rude and perfunctory support contact who said my only options were to ship the scale back to them at my own expense and wait up to a month for a new scale or "deal with the retailer". I chose the latter even though I am concerned about returning since I no longer have the box.

And Your Weight Is?, October 15, 2006
I bought this scale today at Macy's Herald Square store after my Norelco digital scale of over 20 years finally died this weekend. I'll be returning the Homedics scale tomorrow. I get a different reading everytime I step on it. I've weighed 172 pounds (undressed) very consistently for the past five years. When I first stepped on this scale (fully dressed) it showed my weight as 176. Oh great, I thought! I've no doubt lost a couple of pounds. Then I picked up my 10-pound (adult) dog and discoverd that together we both weighed 190 pounds. So either my dog increased his weight by almost half since the last time I weighed him, or I gained 4 pounds in one minute. I then tested the scale on three different hard surfaces--wood floor, ceramic tile, and linoleum. I got different readings on each. I also got different readings on the same surface. The variations were about 5 pounds, on average. Clearly, I have no confidence in this scale.

weight reading is random, May 10, 2008
The SC-535 model is very inaccurate (as a previous reviewer notes). I've used it first thing in the morning, as recommended, and got one weight - then after doing some morning ablutions, I expect to weigh about a pound less. Instead, this scale shows me weighing 4lbs (2%) more!! I would return this piece of digital uselessness, but I've lost the packaging.
