4.0 out of 5 stars Misnomer
The first thing I'd like to point out is that calling this a 'massaging mat' is a misnomer. I completely understand why some people would be very disappointed as this is more a vibration-only mat. In fact, if you have a muscle needing actual deep tissue massage, the vibration may only aggravate the muscle resulting in increased pain.

This review is from: Homedics VM-150 Body Revitalizer 5 Motor Massaging Mat with Heat, Black (Health and Beauty)
Pros:

(1) 3 vibrating sections that can be turned on and off independently.

(2) Optional heating pad option in the center of your back.

Con:

(1) the "massage" was too weak for me personally and it did not provide me with much relief.

I was dissappointed with the results I got from this product so I upgraded to the seat cushion with the rolling massage inserts. Wow ... what a difference.

4.0 out of 5 stars Misnomer, January 23, 2011

This review is from: Homedics VM-150 Body Revitalizer 5 Motor Massaging Mat with Heat, Black (Health and Beauty)

The reason I ordered the mat is for sciatica. At night the pain appears and was keeping me awake. The vibration serves as what is basically a sensation distraction for the brain. In fact, at this level, it's effective enough to allow me huge relief and a good night's rest. The high-low settings and ability to use only one third, two thirds, or the full mat at once are great.

So if you forget the notion of this massaging anything and use it for sensory re-routing for trigger points, you may find it beneficial. But they truly need to drop the word 'massage' from the name as it certainly does no such thing.

Sidenote:
The 19x19 measurement is the boxed dimension, not that of the actual product.

I am satisfied with body revitalizer, it could be a little stronger and have one more massage section in the lower back area.

This is wonderful. When my body is really tired and I can't go to sleep,as a result, this takes care of the problem. I put it on my bed and lie on it and I fall asleep.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not Long Enough, January 13, 2009
This review is from: Homedics VM-150 Body Revitalizer 5 Motor Massaging Mat with Heat, Black (Health and Beauty)
My Mom and I are both 5'9. She's a nurse who usually pulls 16hr days and constantly on her feet. I thought this would be a good Idea, and it was, but it doesnt get your FULL body, leaving her knees down on their own. It does help her relax and often puts her to sleep, so I guess it does what was intended.

I got two in succession that both failed within a few days. One section of motors stopped working. Moreover, the remaining sections would frequently stop for a few seconds, suggesting that they too were on the way out. Amazon's return works easily and well, but I think I will go to another model as this one seems to have serious problems.

I have used mats like this before and like them for relaxing. They do not really provide massage -- just a light vibration. I'm not sure what a true massaging pad would be like, but this isn't it and anyone who is looking for true massage should not buy a mat like this. They are also a bit lumpy, and even the best of them will not last more a couple of years in regular use.

4.0 out of 5 stars worth the price definitly!!!, February 17, 2010

This review is from: Homedics VM-150 Body Revitalizer 5 Motor Massaging Mat with Heat, Black (Health and Beauty)
For the low price of less than 40 dollars this is really nice. Maybe it could be a little warmer and maybe a stronger massage but for the price it is extremely comfortable. I am 5 feet so my entire body gets to rest on this, very soothing and you can fall asleep very easy. It provides relief for an achy tired or tense body, So if you don't want to spend a lot of money this brings a lot of comfort for a really low price. I don't think you can be disappointed with this purchase.

3.0 out of 5 stars Returned item for replacement, February 5, 2010

This item is OK. I had to return the item after it not working properly just after a few minutes of use. The second one I received has worked fine. It's not very powerful but is relaxing. Only to be used for 15-20 minutes at a time. So kinda bothersome when you have to watch the clock to shut it off before damaging the mat's motor.

4.0 out of 5 stars Massager that does what it says...., June 2, 2011

This review is from: Homedics VM-150 Body Revitalizer 5 Motor Massaging Mat with Heat, Black (Health and Beauty)
I had been searching for these things in my area for sometime now and had been unable to locate them. The ones I did find weren't long enough or wide enough of an area to adequetly take care of my joint pain like I needed. So when I came across these on Amazon for the super price of $20.00 each (used) I jumped on the offer because the others I was able to locate online cost almost twice as much each and that didn't even include shipping.
When this arrived , I immediately unpacked it , plugged it in and laid down on it. This was better than I expected but still was a little shorter than I would've liked (I'm 5'7), the neck portion hits me right at my shoulders but my ankles hang off the mat about 6",with the lower leg massagers at the back of my knees. Now I should say , I have Fibromyalgia and that's the reason for the massager. This mat with the heat does seem to relax the aches away somewhat (nothing takes it away altogether) but this does really help. It has 2 settings high and low and so far the low setting has seemed to work fine for me. The heat is a "warm" rather than something that actually gets hot enough to burn you and I like that too (some of these can become too hot).
Would I recommend this to a friend ..."Definetly !" Would I buy it again.....you bet and I'm so happy that I got two of them . One for home and the other for when I go away on vacation.
