Beautiful Modern Fountain,
By Robin (Central New York USA) - See all my reviews We keep it on the floor of our dining room, where the lovely water sound can be heard throughout the first floor of our house. The sound of the running water is very pleasant and relaxing. The water flow is good, and unlike some other fountains the water doesn't get "stuck" on a level but flows continuously through. The illumination is subtle and nice, brighter then a night light mostly because of the water reflections that play across the walls. The only down side I've found is that it isn't a 360 degree view fountain - the back isn't as attractive as the front, so you will want to keep the back against a wall. For the price, this wasn't a big deal to me. Overall, it's a great fountain for the money. Note: when you first get the fountain, it's important follow the instructions to wash both the fountain and the stones well before use. Homedics says most noise problems people report are caused by dust and grime from skipping this step are caused by people who do not do this. Once a week, take 5 minutes to give it a good rinse in the kitchen sink and refill it with clean water, and it will last you a long time. A prior reviewer writes: "you can't adjust the amount of water flow like many fountains can." That's not true. Page 7 of the instructions shows you how to adjust the water flow, and even has a diagram of how to set the flow control lever (figure 9). So YES, you can adjust the pump's water flow.

I love this little fountain! glittering liquid spotlight,

I received this as a Christmas gift, and so far it's been a pleasant diversion. It has one best view (as the back is unfinished) so it must be placed against a wall. It works best when full of clean water; the pump must be completely immersed, or an unwelcome grinding noise will result. Enclosed documents also explain that dust or heavy water can lead to increased noise.I found an ideal place for mine, on a sideboy in a hallway, where the sound of the running water can be heard from two rooms, and where the light can be kept low so the silvery spotlights can sparkle in the running water. It's not made of stone (though polished stones are included for meditative and decorative purposes), but the black plastic is unobtrusive, and it's quite soothing. What more do you expect for $20 from the drugstore?

The Little Fountain that Could,
One of the reasons I got this fountain was its small size as described by other reviewers here. I don't have much space in my office and needed something that takes up a nice little corner, yet makes enough gurgling sound to drown out the sound of modern technology like the computer, multiple monitors, and the fan. Some people here had said that the motor was loud and I was dismayed when I first turned it on. The motor was louder than the gurgling sound. I was so tempted to pack it all into the box and send it back. But someone here said to wash the unit thoroughly to remove all grime. So I took the whole thing to the sink and thoroughly washed the pump, the container, the pebbles, and then let the fountain run for about 5 minutes. Gradually the motor sound became a pleasant hum. But there was still no gurgling sound. I read somewhere else that you need to arrange the pebbles so that water cascading will make more noise. So I spent a good 10 minutes moving the stones around. Come to think of it, it was quite therapeutic, really. Now I have another way to waste time at the office instead of working! But once the pebbles were arranged in a certain way, I could barely hear the motor humming, just the soothing gurgling running fountain. Thumbs up!

Spitting fountain,

This fountain likes to spit all over my desk. Sometimes it does it more than usual. Sometimes it doesn't do it at all. I put it around my plants so they can get watered. Also, it's light plastic. I thought it would be a less flexible substance when I bought it. Sometimes I hear the trickle more than the pump. Sometimes I hear the pump more than the trickle. Overall, I'm pleased with it. I don't really understand the physics of the fountain, but I do believe the price should be lowered.

Nice for a while, wears out easily,

I have had this fountain for a year now, so I feel I can write an honest, and well thought-out review. This is a pretty little fountain, very oriental looking and sleek and stylish. It is illuminated, however the lights are not clear, they have an orange glow to them, which takes away from the modern, sleek look of the fountain and makes it look a little cheap. It is small, so that can be good or bad. It's nice for a small tabletop or counter. I kept this fountain running 24/7 look most would want to do. After about 6 months, the motor started making a bad sound, like it was really working hard to run. This is not because I didn't clean it. I cleaned it on a regular basis and even bought some fountain purifying liquid that is safe for fountain motors to help with scum or mold or dirty water. This seemed to help and I definitely think it prolonged the life of the fountain. However, after several months of use, the noise started. Another point; you must keep it refilled. The water evaporates out of the fountain quite easily. I refilled at least every few days, to keep the water level up.It doesn't make a very loud 'flowing water' sound, so don't expect to hear it all through the house. Only in the room it's in, and only faintly can you hear the water. It's more like a 'trickle'. Unfortunately, earlier this month, I had to stop using the fountain. It became too loud, two of the lights went out, and it just became too much of a hassle. It wears out pretty easily. I know friends who have had more expensive, premium tabletop fountains that have lasted for years, even after constant use. This does not hold up. However, for the price, it's pretty, attractive and sleek. Just buy it knowing that it's not going to last long-term. More like a 'disposable' fountain. Would I still tell people to buy it? Sure! For the price, you can't beat it. It's still a good value, but just a little on the cheap side. But what can you expect for the price?

Cute little fountiain,
Yes its a little cheap plastic fountain but the way the water flows down the different levels is pretty. This fountain is better than a lot of similar ones I have seen because the water actually pours from level to level rather than just running down a surface. It has little lights on each level which I didnt realize until the evening when I walked into my bedroom and saw it lit up. The soft light effect on the rippling water is really soothing and reminds me of candle light. I will be honest with you, I bought this as a "drinking fountain" for my cats! They are obsessed with the running water from the sink. It is much prettier than those pet brand flowing water bowls and I dont have to worry about having little water dishes sitting around the house. The cats just visit the fountain whenever they want a drink. They find it really soothing too. Sometimes I find them sleeping next to it in the evening when it is all lit up. I just top off the water each day with bottled water for the kitties. The motor gets loud when the water level is low but when it is full all you can hear is the water and a soft hum from the motor and pump which is unavoidable in any small fountain. Overall I am pretty happy but be aware this is plastic and a little cheap looking from some angles.

Short Lived Entertainment,

I bought this fountain as a replacement or one I had had from the same company years ago. Noticed 2 things, one it is now made of flimsy plastic ( not metal )and 2 it is tiny compared to the old ones ( my fault for not reading the dimensions ) We followed the instructions and washed everything off and it was a pretty little cat fountain with a nice light. Very quiet except the splashing water. Within a month the light burnt out but we shrugged it off as it was mainly a cat dish. We also noticed it tore through water and needed to be refilled often or it made a horrible grinding noise. After 2 months I went to clean it and the bottom pillar snapped off as, again, it's pretty cheap plastic. Within 4 months it was on it's death bed, pretty noisy and had started to leak so we tossed it out. Not a horrible investment for 4 months as it was cheap but don't buy this looking for long term decor. Also use only filtered water or you will get gross looking water deposits on the nice black base.

The instructions and reviews warn you that this device won't work well if you don't take care of it. That means: 1) keeping it pretty full of water, and 2) cleaning it out / rinsing off all the surfaces and stones every week or so. This fountain will more than repay the minimal maintenance effort involved in the ambiance it adds to your room or workplace. Set-up is straightforward; you don't really need the instructions. DO NOT switch the fountain on until you have water in it!I keep it on the windowsill in my dorm room next to my bed and have it running pretty much all the time I'm in there doing work. You can adjust the stones on the plates to make the trickling louder or softer, and filling the water up just to the brim (on an even surface!) makes for quite a beautiful waterscape when placed in a sunny space or in front of a window. The fountain doesn't splash much as long as all the plates are in place, and I have had no leakage issues (though the base is all just plastic; so I wouldn't rule out possible leaks). The motor makes some noise, but if you place the fountain on a folded piece of cloth and make sure the water level stays within a centimeter of the rim, the noise is barely noticeable. The LED lights are a little bright and tacky, and I wish they all lit up through the water rather than down onto it. But I've taped them over with masking tape so they're a little softer, and with a little improv they add a nice touch (and a great nightlight). In a nutshell: cheap, plasticky, easy to set up, easy to maintain, a great atmospheric touch. Very glad I bought it.

I wanted a small fountain with lights for my home. This one is perfect. Runs great, looks beautiful with a soft orange hue light that illuminates the water. Makes a nice water tricking sound, not too loud and this fountain doesn't 'spit' all over the counter like other ones I have owned in the past. This unit plugs in and has a switch for on/off so you don't have to unplug it each time you are done, just flip the switch. Has a very nice modern look to it. Goes great with asian decor or modern styles. I'm digging this one and turn it on almost every day...my little bit of Zen!!
